But it seems that there would be red blobs or smears, not that it would be applied uniformly across the print. That's why I'm having a problem understanding this.
You mean just looking at them around the output port?
That's a good idea.
Thanks
So I assume they move from front to back (or vice-versa) to remove ink from the nozzles? And if a cart is leaking, and the head is sitting over the purge pad for days at a time, then the leaked ink floods the purge pad?
Just to be clear, the black-looking ink I was talking about is not around the purge unit, it's on the bottom of the head and in the head carriage.
So am I understanding that those 2 pads in your picture are the waste pads? I always thought the long sponge strip that the head rides above was the...
Boy, Hat, you're just determined that it's me, aren't you?
I've taken all the carts out and they're in a translucent plastic container, sitting upright as they would be in the printer. I'll watch them and see if one leaks. There is ink on the bottom of the printhead, also in the carriage (?)...
Actually, the red stops at about her chin. This print was a 4x6 whereas the previous was (roughly) 6x8. So I don't think it's getting worse but it sure isn't getting better.
It's a refurb cart I got from PC, including the plug. Seems unlikely the original and replacement are leaking the same...
Now here's something interesting I didn't notice before; maybe it's a clue.
Once a week, even if I don't have time to do any real printing, I print a nozzle check then a 4x6 test image, to protect the print head. This was done on May 25. I didn't even notice those black blobs at the end of the...
Still not fixed. :(
I got a new cart from PC right after my last post and refilled the day it arrived. Then I wasn't able to do any printing because of some family matters, and just got back to it today. Here are 2 test prints I just did; the red one first, then when I saw the red I printed...
Regarding the possibility of a leak, wouldn't I see ink somewhere on the cart? It's clean as a whistle, and so are the grays.
Another thing that I didn't mention explicitly is that other prints are fine. This has happened only twice, and both times that there was an excess of red on one side of...
Guys, you gotta give me more credit than, "You screwed up twice." The first time I thought maybe it was true but not two times in a row.
Besides, consider this: If the PM happened to run out in the middle of a print, the remainder of the print should be greenish, but instead it's more-or-less...
I just realized something weird: Both times this has happened, the last print I made started out VERY red and then when the PM ran out the rest of the print looked correct. Like it's dumping all the PM at the beginning of the print. This first image is a scan of the print, the second one is the...
Well, it just did it again. I made a print that had a drastic red-color change right in the middle and made me suspicious. There was no warning of any kind.
I don't see how it can be anything other than the cart. What do you guys think, now that it's happened twice? All the other carts pretty...
For as long as I've owned inkjet printers people have been interested in refilling, for the simple reason that ink is expensive. I think that will continue to be the case.
I saw that thread before I posted but couldn't see how it might relate; maybe I don't know enough about it to understand.
Seems like a leaky cart would make a mess that I could see unless it was leaking in just the right place so that the ink went into the sponge.
Underfilled cart has potential...
