Frustrated Brother user wants to switch to Epson.

I thought that my Brother MFC 465CN and the MFC 240C were the best because they used the humongous LC-51 refillable cartridges that sit outside the printer. They seem to hold 100 ml of ink. Thus a CISS for $15. The printers have lasted for years, reliably fed the paper, and if the heads...

Beat the full absorber "No Clean" and prevent flooding the printer idea.

First, you can reset the purge counter to zero. Instructions are available. OK With the purge rest Brother will allow clean cycles but what if the absorber becomes full? Where will the ink go? I thought of a BBQ grill fat catching can beneath the grill. If the absorber overflow went into a...

Trick the brother to not clean idea

I found that "No Black Cartridge" can be eliminated by cutting #5 wire on the 9 wire connector. If, this will stop all "low in" or missing cartridge messages, I suggest placing empty cartridges into the printer during the unwanted cleaning cycle. IOW It 'cleans' with zero ink.

What is the white felt? up there when you open the back of a MFC-465 or 240?

I goofed! What I thought was jammed paper was really part of the printer. About 1/4" thick white stuff. I had to cut away about 20%. How important is it and can it be replaced if necessary?

Is there a LC-51 flush cartridge? etc.

Thinking about a syringe and cleaning solution method to flush a clogged print head. (Magenta!!!) If one could buy a cartridge filled with cleaner it would be a perfect fit for the fill channel. Perhaps just using the clean cycle would be sufficient. If not, pressurizing would be the next...

Brother MFC -240 C "No Black Cartridge " Cure!!! and Problem

I have 2 MFC-465 CN printers with the extended transparent Chinese LC-51 cartridges. For years they have been 100%. Suddenly, last week, one of them failed the print test with colors. I always used a single color purge print to clear the heads. This time no success. Black and Yellow, OK...

Success!! A great solution for LC-51 cartridges.

The extended LC-51 cartridges come filled with dye ink. each color is the equivalent of 7 stock cartridges. If the heads are still good by the time the ink runs out, I will order more ink from the same source.

Success!! A great solution for LC-51 cartridges.

A huge success. Working backwards, I found this LC-51 extended refillable cartridge on eBay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130352312654&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT I placed an Wanted Ad on Craigslist and I bought a Brother MFC-440CN in perfect condition for $25. The eBay...

I would like to try refilling but need advice

Good advice. Is it possible to use black dye ink to prevent the printer from dying?

    Why remove cartridges to refill?

If you have a Brother, Canon, or Epson and the cartridges are stationary, why not refill them in place instead of removing them from the printer? Just give them a syringe/needle shot of ink once in a while.

    LC-51 refillable HUGE cartridge find

please expand: "but both can be attached to your network or even wireless LAN and then it becomes indirectly wireless." In general, is there an adaptor to make a USB printer wireless? Where does the printer driver reside? The best would be a wireless printer with internal drivers. What is...

Do colors and black share the same print head?

I have a brother MFC-210C and I use it for everything. This cheap printer has served me well for a few years. Occasionally I need to use a cleaning cartridge to open the clogged print head. When the printer produced an empty yellow signal I saw that there was a lot of ink in the cartridge. I...

Do colors and black share the same print head?

Cannon, Epson, and Brother have built in heads. Is there a portion of the head for Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow separate from the holes used for black? IOW Can you block the color heads and continue to print black? (Assuming you trick the empty color signal)

Anyone successfully refill the new Brother LC51 carts?

Thanks! What you dis is what I suggested in my thread "A few ideas". Unfortunately www.buyinknow123.com and inkjetmall.com has no LC-41 cartridges. You think like I do. FYI and possible enjoyment: See my $100 elevator video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hom61NxuaE And...

Anyone successfully refill the new Brother LC51 carts?

Thanks, $99 is to much for my budget. Did you use the original cartridges in your homemade CISS or use refillable? Details please. Do you fool the color cartridges with tape or do you keep them filled?

Anyone successfully refill the new Brother LC51 carts?

Please explain the function of the floater. Refill ink source for goo quality? BTW I use a LC-41 cleaner cartridge occasionally that unclogs the head. Very handy.

What printer/copier is going to be easiest/most efficient to refill?

"They're on sale on the Epson site for only $129.99 with free shipping and a CIS system" Does the CIS come with it? The cartridges look huge, are they refillable? BTW The 610 is now advertised at $99.99!
