I have 3 MFC-465 CN type printers with the extended transparent Chinese LC-51 cartridges.
They hold a bunch of ink and after clipping #5 lead, no ink low messages.
They have worked for at least 5 years without a hitch,
'BUT!!!$#%^&& my 3 brother printers all clogged within a week.
What is...
I said "clean", not replace.
"Taking ceramic nozzle plates is considered very dangerous on canon printers I never knew that on HP it is recommended to do this."
Where did you get this information?
The video makes HP plate removal seem pretty safe.
I would not hesitate to use this method...
Take off the front panel by removing 3 screws.
Look down and you will see 9 white wires going to a connector.
The middle one needs to be cut.
I use a curved pick to lift the middle wire and a pointed wire cutter to snip.
Done!
No more close cover, missing cartridges, .....
On second thought after watching the video again, it appears that the tubes come from the rear of the printer forward to the absorber. Methinks we cut 2 holes in the side, or a slit, unhook the tubes, and they should be long enough to have them fit into an external dump container.
If I can...
Thanks, we are making progress.
I think that perhaps a better way would be to avoid the pumping from the purge tank on the left side that moves the ink to the absorber tank on the right. I have the 150 page PDF service manual for the MFC-4800, about 3 MB. I will send it to you if you want...
I found this extreme hack but there is no photo and the word description does not match the video above.
I downloaded the service manual and it shows a lot more than an absorber sponge.
I know that your advice is good; patience and time +
To Dremel or not to Dremel, that is the question...
It is more complicated in the Brother. There is a purge tank on the left side and an absorber tank on the right side. In what seems like an unnecessarily complicated system, Brother pumps the waste ink from the purge tank to the absorber tank. My thinking is that it may be possible to...
I have a Brother inkjet printer equipped with humongeous outside cartridges. One filling can print many thousands of pages.
The color nozzles got clogged.
Is it easier to throw away the inkjet and buy a laser, or spend 3 minutes to hack it?
If I ever get the cyan and magenta heads unblocked...
I can use the method both ways.
The neat thing is that it works without cartridges in the printer.
Not cheating the cartridge, cheating the printer electronics with a 3 minute hack.
If that is the case how could a clogged nozzle head section be cleared after being energized numerous times without ink?
In any event, turning a clogged color Brother into a Black/Yellow printer is useful.
It is a big relief to be able to print with empty or missing colors cartridges.
I wonder if the Brother purge tank could be drained from below by drilling a hole and attaching a hose?
What is the largest capacity Epson WF3520 cartridge?
Been there, done all the steps. No joy.
It prints black, yellow, partial cyan, and only a few magenta rectangles.
What cleaning solution do you use?
BTW Check out my Brother Magic thread where I can use the printer without any color cartridges.
I am now able to print using my Brother MFC -465CN and my MFC-240C with any and all color cartridges removed from the printer!
Just BLACK!
This has always been my dream, to carry on with a color cartridge empty or removed.
I might make a Youtube video to demonstrate.
When I tried it, I...
Sorry. Not my video.
I agree that gravity is your best friend for waste ink.
Did you see my post about Brother waste ink frustration, etc?
They use a purge tank, a pump, and a sponge tank.
Each at opposite sides of the printer and a pump to transfer.
Can't inspect them, too complicated, no...
