Thanks for the reply & link.
The only explanation for the problem is what you mentioned, it's "a common problem with Brother printer". Everything else in the system is OK.
I found a service manual online & some of the error codes have these descriptions:
1) Estimated remaining toner amount...
My Brother MFC-L2700DW All In One indicated low toner & stopped printing. I put in a new aftermarket LN660 toner cartridge just like I was using, but the printer still said low toner & would not print. I did a reset using the front panel buttons & this got it working.
I don't know if this is...
Everything I’ve read says the heated fuser roller has a hard surface & the pressure roller is rubber. The lower roller on my Brother MFC -L2700DW is sort of brown colored & has a glossy look so I presumed it was the heated roller. The upper roller looks like gray rubber so I figured it was the...
I put a sheet of the preprinted paper through the laser printer. The first half of the page printed OK but then the last part looked like a double exposure. The toner rubs off a little easier than it does from a print on regular paper.
The preprinted paper didn’t seem heavier than regular 20lb...
I’d like to use some stationary paper with a preprinted colored border in a laser printer but am not sure if it’s safe to use due to the heated drum. IOW is the colored ink heat resistant or will it come off on a drum?
The manual for my Brother all-in-one printer says “Preprinted paper must use...
I did a water torture test on plain paper (Georgia-Pacific) & ColorLok (HP) paper using the Canon OEM pigment black & dye black inks. I printed several lines of text on both sides of each paper & labeled each section while printing so things would not get mixed up. This gave me 4 samples on each...
When I smear with a wet finger, it is really wet & does cause the paper to wrinkle. Doing this the pigment black has always smeared more than the dye.
Selecting matte paper really slows down printing. Ill do at least some of the next mailing with the matte setting & see what happens.
The...
I am using OEM Canon ink. The document that I print is mainly black text with a black box outlining parts of it. There is also a color logo. The black should be pigment & the logo dye. I have done a very wet finger smear test after letting the ink dry for 1 hour, 3 hrs, 12 hrs, 18 hrs & 24 hrs...
I do work for a non-profit organization and send out & receive documents. Problem is when I get them returned it appears the letters were folded when the ink was still wet. So I started spreading them out on the floor & letting them dry for at least an hour before folding to fit an envelope. But...

Please take a look at this thread, and the example link shown in message #12.

That is the problem I am having with ColorLok. It certainly does not improve my black text printing. ColorLok is worse compared to the plain paper I...
The paper is stacked coming out of the iP4700. However I separate & spread out the sheets on the floor to dry for about an hour, sometimes longer.
The ink transfer I get is from folding the letter into thirds in order to fit an envelope. If the bottom third is folded in first then it gets some...
ghwellsjr,
Well I bought some paper without ColorLok, sent out & received back some of the form letters that had the ink transfer problem. It is better but not quite right. The black ink transfer is about half as dark compared to what happens with the ColorLok paper.
My friend who used to send...
My Canon iP4700 was already on because I printed some black text about 6 hours prior. I went to print another page & the printer started doing it nozzle cleaning ritual. I grabbed my watch & timed it at almost exactly 2 minutes of making noise & probably wasting ink.
Then a message said to...
I printed 3 test sheets with some black ink text & then let dry for at least 6 hours. I then ran a very wet finger over each.
1) Plain lined paper from a pad of Office Max paper has no noticeable smear. The paper just has wrinkles from getting wet.
2) A piece of miscellaneous copy paper has a...
Thanks for the comment about the BCI-3eBk pigment black. I have an iP3000 which I thought bringing back into service, but it does need a new printhead. I never bought the printhead because it was cheaper to buy an iP3500. After a while I got the iP4700 because it was cheaper than ink for the...
I did a lot of searching after you first mentioned ColorLok and just about every Google hit praises how wonderful it is. And how it reduces smearing, at least when the paper is coming out of the printer.
I found one comment where the person had problems using a highlighter because it smeared...
Yes I am. It's Georgia-Pacific Premium MultiPurpose. The package does say "Now With ColorLok Technology". I'm presuming that's not good. What does ColorLok do?
I just looked & the HP paper I have also states ColorLok.
I printed some form letters last night. Again, the page has a color logo at the top and a few lines of blue & red text. The page is mostly black text & does have a box with black lines that are slightly less than 1mm width.
I let dry 1 hour & ran my wet finger over the black text & black lines...
I am printing in standard mode.
I have been laying out the form letters all over my living room floor for about an hour in order for the ink to dry.
I am printing mostly text with a few thin lines. There are no large blocks of black. The text is getting transferred to the other parts of the...
