You'r right about the set codes beyond 4 on some printers is printer id I've read in http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/forums that some Canon printer owners have set their printers to a different type when trying to clear the "waste tank almost full" error.
Here is a link for Error Codes on...
The 13" wide printers are the more expensive inkjet printers. They are mostly top of the line printers. The Canon i9900 is the only 13" inkjet printer. It retails for $499.99, I've seen it on the web for about $429.00. The i9900 is going to be replaced by the i9910 shortly, it has been...

rduve in Steves Forums is using a Canon OEM cartridge to get the color balance he wants. He states he will be going back to Canon inks after his current large job because of the color difference. He also stated he had a green shift with the Acu-Jet inks but it wasn't as bad as the...

Thats all well and good but what are you going to do throw out the ink, seems like a waste of money to me.
Its probably for a good cause to see if you can put more ink in the cartridge than the Canon OEM.
I will be looking for results.

I didn't clean the pads I will let my friend get his hands dirty. From what I have read on the internet the waste tank error comes for the counting the firings of the jets and the number of cleaning cycles the printer goes through. If we could get the software that the Canon service center...
I have a friend with a Canon S9000 who started to receive the dreaded waste tank almost full error.
Tried the reset sequence of:
1. Hold down the resume button while powering on, continue to hold the power button on untill the lite is steady green.
2. After the light is steady green release the...
Mostly I have refilled True Canon cartridges. What I do is to remove the ball from the top of the cartridge with a long finishing nail.
Insert the nail at an angle (so the ball dosen't get pushed into the cartridge) far enough to pry it out of the hole. I then fill the cartridge with ink and...
Yes there is a way if you can put your hands on an Alps printer. You might find one on e-bay.
The Alps printer has a white ink ribbon that can print white on black.
The printer has been out of production for a few years but can be found.
From what I understand Oki printers makes one like the...
There is reasonably priced software form DDI Software called Profile Prism ($79.00) Comes with it8 color chart and a camera color chart. The Software can profile scanners, cameras and printers and is easy to use if you read the instructions.
Profiling a printer requires a good scanner, not a...
I have been to a canon repair facility, these guys are contracted by Canon to repair their printers.

The flash codes and beep codes are included.
For some reason Canon...
There is a firmware update for the canon i9900/i9950 at this address http://alpha02.c-wss.com/inc/ApplServlet?SV=WWUCA900
The updated ROM version (1.05) for the i9900 printer does two things:
1. Protects the print head from possible damage when changing ink
tanks.
2. Resolves an issue...
I have some old MIS ink that seems to work fine. The only problem is MIS is probably not going to have the red or green inks for the i9900. Every one else has the new ink colors except MIS. They seem to favor Epson as opposed to Canon.
You might want to look at Colrobat web site, I seem to remember seeing a post about the sponges not lasting that long in their CFS. They had a problem with ink not feeding properly after awhile.
I have been using my i9900 since July 2004 and have printed over 200 4x6 on Kodak paper and about 300 prints on 8.5x11 paper.
I use Profile Prism to profile my papers and ink, till now I have used about 75% of my green and red.
I can see the difference in the greens and reds with my...
