    Your bad printer is shorting out the new print heads. Quit using good print heads in the bad printer. If you want to keep the bad printer get it fixed.

    One way to check if the logic board is fried is to print in the plain paper mode. Then print in any photo paper mode. If you get color in either one the logic board is fried.

    I had a S800 that wouldn't tell me when the ink got low. I tried a few tricks with the cartridges to no avail. One time for some reason I had to remove the driver, the ink warning started to work after that. Reinstalling the drive may or may not work for you.

    Have you tried a new OEM cartridge without the CIS installed? If it still does the same thing contact Canon tech support and get a new head, the printer head is warranted for a year after purchase. Don't mention you have a CIS installed.
