Your bad printer is shorting out the new print heads. Quit using good print heads in the bad printer. If you want to keep the bad printer get it fixed.
Take the print head from Printer #1 and put it in Printer #2. You should end up with one good printer.
To clean the print head do a search on the on the forum, there are numerous post on how to clean them.
The reason the printer printed in color in the photo paper mode is because the logic board uses a different section to print in the photo mode.
I had a friend's i950 do the opposite, it would print in color in the plain paper mode and nothing in the photo paper mode. He had it repaired at a...
One way to check if the logic board is fried is to print in the plain paper mode. Then print in any photo paper mode.
If you get color in either one the logic board is fried.
I had a S800 that wouldn't tell me when the ink got low. I tried a few tricks with the cartridges to no avail. One time for some reason I had to remove the driver, the ink warning started to work after that. Reinstalling the drive may or may not work for you.
I had the same problem with my Canon i9900, which I believe uses the same head. I also use MIS inks, however they are very old. I found that Cyan, Photo Cyan and Photo Magenta would grow bacterial goop in the ink and in the head if the printer had not been used for awhile. This goop ruined...
Try using CCleaner, I've used it with no problems. Make sure you make a backup of your registry before you run it and make a backup of your registry in the program. Hope it helps.

A few years ago a friend had a i950 that printed fine when plain paper was selected, however when any other paper type was selected the print went south. The colors were way off and sometimes it printed black and white. It was determined that the logic board in the printer was bad.

I purge my BCI-3eBK cartridges with a large hypodermic contraption that fits on the large ink port on the bottom of the cartridge. I can use pressure and vacuum to purge the cartridge with hot water and alcohol. As I said before after 2 cleanings the cartridge doesn't supply enough ink to the...
I've purged my BCI-3eBK cartridges, however the pigment seems to clog the sponge. I only get two(2) purges and after that the cartridge suffers from ink starvation.
Have you tried a new OEM cartridge without the CIS installed? If it still does the same thing contact Canon tech support and get a new head, the printer head is warranted for a year after purchase. Don't mention you have a CIS installed.

As is stated before I used dye ink in the large cartridge and ended up with big black ink blobs on my paper. The reason is the jets are bigger on the pigment jets and allow the ink to feed too fast and also drip. You might have some success but if you pull your print head out you will...

The BCI-3EBK cartridge has pigmented ink in it, it is the only cartridge that has it. All the other cartridges BCI-3E series have dye ink. You can use BCI-6 dye ink cartridges as replacements for the small ink tanks. As I said before your problem is that you are using dye ink in...

That is your problem the jets for that printer and cartridge are designed to work with pigmented ink. By mistake I used dye ink in that cartridge and ended up with black ink all over the place. I suggest you replace the ink with pigmented ink as soon as possible.

I had the same problem with the pigmented ink cartridge on my ip4000 after I refilled it over two times. It seems the cartridge wasn't supplying ink fast enough to the head for it to print properly. It looks like the refill cartridge isn't supplying enough ink to the head. Try another...

You can get a program called Profile Prism from this site. http://www.ddisoftware.com/prism/
I've used it for years and am very pleased with the results. I just re-profiled my Canon i9900 because I started to use some of the Canon inks I have left, I never used Canon's Inks before...
For the information of the owners of the Canon Pro 9000 and the Canon i9900. I just replaced the print head on my i9900, it was purchased from Canon and cost around $60.00 plus shipping. On the box is a list of printers that the print head will work in. For PIXUS...

Before you trash the ip4000 you should try a new print head, I had problems with mine and destroyed the head by trying to clean it using a ultrasonic cleaner. I ordered a new print head from Canon for about $40.00 plus shipping. Installed it and new Hobby Color ink and cartridges, I...
If you can't clear up the print, you should bite the bullet and get a new print head. I just order one for a i950, price was about $35.00 plus shipping. Genuine Canon print head, put in in the printer with new ink cartridges and got a perfect print test.
Canon just reduced the price of their...
I have been away for awhile, however I have tried to clean 4 different Canon print heads with two different ultrasonic cleaners. I have completely destroyed the heads, all the jets tend to not fire or fire very little. It was a costly experiment. Have replaced three heads and have three...
