Well I got the slightly jumbled R2000 up and running because I figured out I might as well give it ago instead of letting it sit in a box for weeks until they got a new one. After the treatment I received on the phone, I figured they probably wouldn't honor their warranty anyway. And I've waited...
That's the problem. They do not have another one---so they won't replace it until they do. Which could be a week, or weeks. They don't do returns on refurbs, only exchanges for the same product.
So you might remember my exploding ink/waste ink tray issue on the R1900. I decided to save my money and purchased a refurb R2000 from Epson directly.

Looking at my options, the Epson artisan 1430 seems to be in my budget, no rebates but I feel reading more of what you are saying (and have written on other sites jtoolman you are everywhere!) this would be a better pick.
What do you think?
I woke up to my freind already refunding me in full, she said I had already done more than i should have to have done a felt horrible that I did. I'll have to ship it back to her in the next few days so she can file a claim with the shipper.
At her request I'm going to stop fiddling with it...

I agree with your assessment jtoolman. That's exactly what happened. I cleaned and cleaned for almost 4 hours and fired her up after installation. No go. Two left binking orange lights and powered down after turning on with lights still blinking. I read about resetting the ink counter...
Well, I bought a used Epson R1900 off of a friend of mine after she upgraded to a Canon Pixma Pro-100. She does awesome prints of her personal artwork which is what I wanted it for.
