Well I got the slightly jumbled R2000 up and running because I figured out I might as well give it ago instead of letting it sit in a box for weeks until they got a new one. After the treatment I received on the phone, I figured they probably wouldn't honor their warranty anyway. And I've waited...

That's the problem. They do not have another one---so they won't replace it until they do. Which could be a week, or weeks. They don't do returns on refurbs, only exchanges for the same product.

Well I guess that seals it, R2000 it is. Now just to wait on the refund to process. Oh aaannd I don't have to return the paper! Yay!

And now doing more reading, the artistan is dye based too. Maybe I just need to save up for an Epson r2000 and hope for a rebate.

Looking at my options, the Epson artisan 1430 seems to be in my budget, no rebates but I feel reading more of what you are saying (and have written on other sites jtoolman you are everywhere!) this would be a better pick. What do you think?

I woke up to my freind already refunding me in full, she said I had already done more than i should have to have done a felt horrible that I did. I'll have to ship it back to her in the next few days so she can file a claim with the shipper. At her request I'm going to stop fiddling with it...
