Thanks to your suggestions, everyone. Finally (a month later!) I got around to this project, incorporating some of your ideas. What worked was:
-> Cleaning the timer/encoder strip using some lintless paper towel and alcohol (didn't have any window cleaner with ammonia handy.)
-> replacing the...
Found a window of time here to address a couple of your suggestions...
Attached is a photo of a sample of a photo taken with the printer in Normal mode. Ignore the out of focus quality of blue type, I was holding the camera too close. It's a lot sharper in reality. But as you can see in the...
Excellent answer, Peter. I think I should have posted my question at another time! Why do I say that? We have family and out of town guests in abundance right now and I may not have time to try your suggestions. First, posting a photo is where I should start.
So bear with me a few days, I may...
First, my document has two kinds of print, one is plain text, one with color, red or blue, headers.
Here's what's strange:
In the normal print mode, the text is fuzzy and the headers are fine, in red or blue. The headers are not simply an enlarged font, they must be graphics of some kind.
In...
I might be doing something wrong, but as near as I can tell, I don't need to choose to get notification of new comments. When I start a new thread, below it there are two boxes already checked, asking to be notified when I receive a comment.
It's been a while since I've posted a new question...
I use FastStone Viewer all the time, great program. But Pamela is using a Mac. I did a quick Google and found many Mac programs that use something similar. Any Mac users here have a favorite they'd like to suggest?
I have an idea... please, some of you veteran Epson printer users, tell me if my analysis and solution are correct. I'm still learning but here's what I think:
I was trying to help Pamela and the ink light was flashing. This shows the ink level is low but not totally out. If it was totally out...
It's been almost three weeks since I installed Piezoflush in my printer. I did a nozzle check when I got home and it was perfect, as I had hoped. Now I'm going to install my inked cartridges. How do I go about that? Do I simply remove the cleaning carts, insert the inked carts, and run the cart...
Sorry to be monopolizing the thread here... but this should be my last post because the nozzle check on my 1400, with Piezoflush in the 6.3 carts, was perfect this afternoon. I simply took my time, every few hours I'd run a check (sometimes running just one head clean), so's to let the...
mikling,
PS: I have a concern though...
But I'm running 6.0 chip cartridges in my 1430, and didn't have any problem doing so. Is it possible, hopeful, that these 6.0 carts have been improved? Or maybe I have one of the very first 1430s. Of course, I've only run the 1430 under two settings...
Good news... firing up my confidence on how to use the 6.3 carts in the 1400: I used my resetter to set only the K cart. Then I installed that cart, followed by installing the five slave carts. The head went back and forth, behaving as it should. All six carts were recognized in the on-line...
Thanks, mikling... I was hoping you'd join this thread, you know a lot about the various chip issues.
I have both a 1400 and a 1430. I've mothballed the 1430 with ver 6.0 chips, and filled the carts with Piezoflush. As I said earlier, this computer has been "asleep" for many months, but I do...
I have an Epson 1400 equipped with refillable carts, the chips are version 6.0. I'm going to be away from the printer for about 10 days and would like to pull the carts and insert a new set of carts filled with Piezoflush. (I've filled a set of carts with Piezoflush for a 1430 that I've...
It's been a long day, and I didn't try any printing till I got home. But - when I ran two prints, both loaded without a hitch. Before I discovered the problem was due to not cleaning the entire circumference of the rubber roller, I wouldn't have been able to print so easily, without any...
BTW yesterday I called a friend who runs a copy machine repair service and I know he uses a roller cleaner, what is it, a spray? I'll see if he'll let me try a can.
Thanks for explanation of the parts catalog, PeterPJ. And if Pat is correct, it would be very difficult to obtain the rubber ring. I'm going to put this approach aside for a while, no offense, but I've discovered something in the meantime. I learned that my foam paint brush doesn't do a very...
Excellent, PeterBJ, thank you. A wealth of information and contacts for further help.
I found the pick-up roller easily, but it looks like you have to buy a whole assembly.
Aha... the whole assembly is listed here, but I couldn't find it in the catalog you sent. Perhaps I didn't search...
The rubber feed roller (it's round but has a flat side) doesn't always grab the paper. (I'm using Red River Aurora Art Natural, 285 gsm.) What has worked until lately is spraying a fine mist of distilled water on a 1" wide foam rubber paint brush, then holding the brush against the roller as I...
