I own an Epson Workforce 845 with CISS carts. Both are about 5 years old. I have had my shares of not-firing, mis-firing nozzles and fuzzy letters. @jpegman, you have done all things correctly like, head cleaning and cleaning of head with Windex.
Though I did not have as bad a case of letter...
I'm not sure about the CISS cartridges you have, on mine there is a battery. When my CISS cartridges were not being recognized, I realized my battery was almost two years old, so I replaced the battery with a new one and printer recognized the carts.
I attached a CIS/CFS system around February, 2013 to my Epson WF845. After the ink level dropped to slightly less than a third, I refilled all the inks in the tanks to full. That was in January, 2015. Needless to say I'm not a big time printer, just my office documents, my kids school...

I found out from Websnail that Epson workforce 845 in USA is practically the same as Epson Stylus Office BX935FWD sold in Europe.
Anybody know where to get a service manual for free?
2manuals.com sells it for $19.99. That may be my last hope.
I'm looking for a service manual for Epson Workforce 845 inkjet printer.
Would appreciate if some one can post the link to it.
Peter, thanks for the yeoman job of collecting and posting so many links!:clap:thumbsup
Websnail, you actually hit the proverbial nail on the head!
After what I thought was a successful unclogging of all nozzles in my desktop printer WF845, I noticed that two nozzles, though firing, were deflecting the dye ink. See the first photo taken on 8/31/15 at 7:53 PM. I've marked the two...
SUCCESS!!!
Finally last night I was able to get some time to really clean my WF845.
1. I thoroughly cleaned the parking pad and the rubber wiper with straight, Original Windex with Ammonia-D. It took me close to two dozen flushings to clean the sponges in parking pad to my satisfaction.
2...
Cross my fingers...
If it doesn't improve overnight, I may try nozzle cleaning over the weekend. I'm not good with electrical stuff.
Which brings me back to questions I raised in my first posting - any preferred way of cleaning?
Thank you, turbguy, for your reply.
I followed your instructions and let the printer rest overnight. About an hour ago I ran a nozzle check and found nothing has changed - still magenta shows the SAME missing bars. I ran a head cleaning and ran another nozzle check after about 10 minutes...
I did not print while I was on vacation for two weeks and my Epson Workforce 845 connected to a CISS was idle the whole time.
After returning from vacation, the print nozzle check showed missing bars on all 3 colors and one black.
After several head cleanings, I still have a few bars missing...

For a double decker printer like Epson Workforce 845 the CISS unit needs to be raised a good 3 inches above the table level at which printer is kept.
I take added precaution to raise the ink tanks periodically, as the ink levels in the tanks start to go down due to printer usage.
I focus on...
I have installed CISS from InkXpro on Epson Workforce 845. It has been about 3 months since CISS installation.
Everything is working fine - nozzle print OK, no banding in any of the four BYMC colors.
However, I've noticed two or three small air bubbles (about 5 to 10mm long) ONLY in yellow tube...
I have searched the internet and have not been able to find link to get a copy of the service manual for Epson Workforce 845.
I'd appreciate if a link is posted for it. Thanks!
