Can I use my WF-7710 with empty ARC carts?

"Yes, you can cheat the unit this way with 'fake' ink in refill cartridges..." Thank you, that's welcome information! "The printer is not doing that many cleaning cycles , only now and then and at power up..." Does it ever do a cleaning cycle while just sitting idle, without being asked to...

Can I use my WF-7710 with empty ARC carts?

This may sound like an odd question, but I have (I think) a good reason for it. You just can't find decent, affordable standalone flatbed A3 size scanners, so I've just bought an Epson WF-7710 solely for its big scanner. I pulled out the packing stuff, turned it on, and set the...

    IP3000 cross contamination - cause?

BTW, after I changed the yellow cart, the nozzle check changed too. Check this out. Could it be that the yellow cart had a bad vent or seal and was leaking enough to overwhelm the cyan? And now it isn't? There's still definitely a cyan problem, which continued after a cart change...

    IP3000 cross contamination - cause?

"you should give the purge unit a very good clean ..." Thanks again! I hope you'll pardon my ignorance -- how would I do that? Dump a bunch of Windex into it? I wouldn't think that a head cleaning after Windex irrigation would be the way to go, since that would just put more ink into the...

    IP3000 cross contamination - cause?

Thanks. I was wondering if the rear purging unit pad was supposed to look like that. Is the rear pad for the color carts, and the front one for the pgb? Or vice versa? I've seen what looked like spots of color on the front (black) pad from time to time. Confusing. All the carts are OEM...

    IP3000 cross contamination - cause?

Thanks. I'm hoping for a resolution with the new printhead. The pgb is a long standing problem. The missing segments change with every nozzle check. Maybe ink starvation? Changing the black cart (new old stock Canon OEM, not refilled) didn't help, though. I got a clean pgb nozzle check...

    IP3000 cross contamination - cause?

Thanks to all the folks who responded! Here's an update. Apologies for the lousy image quality below. My scanner's not working right now, so I did quick and dirty snapshots with a mobile phone. Here we are 6+ months later. Magenta is no longer much of a problem. I've seen a little of it in...

    IP3000 cross contamination - cause?

Please forgive the length of this post; I'm responding to 3 different posts here. Mikling said: "Printers this old are not always a safe bet. Printhead cross contamination can be the result of the breakdown of adhesive between the channels on the nozzle plate." This isn't what I like hearing...

    IP3000 cross contamination - cause?

Lots of good info here -- many thanks for this wealth of knowledge! I did flood the purge pads with Windex 2-3 times, but I never saw them turn white or even much lighter. Can't hurt to give them a few more squirts. Instead of running a cleaning cycle after flooding the pads, does it make...

    IP3000 cross contamination - cause?

Greetings! I'm a newbie, though I've been lurking for several months. This IP3000 is new to me as of around March 2017, though it's moderately well-used -- about 4600 pages. The drain sheet is over 70% full. Purge count when I got it was M=8, R=10, T=624 (!), D=1, C=26. I'm still using...
