@peter, thanks
ir was just a crazy idea that popped into my head :)
i have no need right now anyway
by the time i need one of those printers, i'm sure they'd have resetters + some other clever person will come up with a better idea :)
i use a borer to make the hole - so no flakes
but on the outer side, there is a raised surface
which the guide i originally started from (cant remember where this was from) said i should get a knife and smooth this off by cutting it + then add a tape
so, you're saying that in my case the...
@pharmacist, thats an awesome reply
can you say a bit more about 'might'?

@thehat: i want to get wireless :)
that's the whole point
i got an mp4500 at a great price and have been astonished at how fast it is and how much better print quality it has compared to my mp640 and mx870
so... if i could make the mp4500 wireless, that would be awesome
Really! Damn! I've already done this
I've tried searching for 'how to clean print head'
Too many results
I've looked at your posts - you have 1500+ posts
So, and not sure where to look
Can you give me a link?
Thanks
I can get a router that gives me a print server
The thing is, I assume that I HAVE to then setup a home network?
I've got no reason or requiremen to setup a network
Is there an alternative?
All the print servers I see are actually router modems - I'm not sure how I would use in addition to...
N@peter, thanks for the reply
This is how human kind works: as time goes by, we develop bigger and better and more advanced than previous models - we don't go backwards and develop inferior products and sell these at higher prices!!
That's funny
What's so good about the ip5200?

I had a crazy idea about refilling the newer ink cartridges for Canon printers: drill a large hole, say 1cm circle and then get some strong glue and securely attach a transparent piece of acrylic
If the correct glue is used then there should be no leaking at all
Would this work?
Is there a...
How do I purge German filled cartridges?

But I haven't seen any yet for German filled ones

I used to make the hole be as tight and as small as possible
I still would notice that ink had come out of the hole and soaked the tape I had put over if
12 months or so ago... I cant remember the exact time, I had yellow ink from octoink that was a bad batch
He was very kind enough to replace...
I've got 2 print heads for my MP640 that I got from MP640's that were clogged
I've run them under warm water and soaked them in water over night
I've also got some cleaning solution that I purchased from eBay that I haven't used yet
Let's say I get the print heads working again...
How do I...
@fotofreek thanks for the answer

thanks for clearing up
one other thing: if a print head cannot be physically seen as being broken, does this mean it can be...
@turboyguy, i purchased an ip4500 for less than 20 (delivered)
i have to admit, i am gob smacked at the quality of printing
it's super fast as well
i honestly would have to say that it beats by MP640 and MX870 hands down
@peter thanks for that
i think i'll try to rescue my mp640 for myself - the print head seems gone
but i get looads of people asking for advice on what printer to buy
so good information from u helps
u used just normal water and nothing else?
not even distill water?
i've seen a few videos un utube and have seen people giving the print heads a bath and a good damn soaking!
i'm intrigued about the wireless part
do u know the part number?
can u open up printer and pull out?
regards to some of what u said: i don't think there's any reason why a modern printer shouldn't be super silent - well at least much much quiter
