Thank your for the detailed response Joseph. I will answer your questions in order from you message:
I am assuming the two problems are for the same printer and not two printers. Ans- Yes one printer.
I am assuming the print quality problem was first and the print head removal problem came...
I have had print quality issues with he MX 870 and one of the remedial suggestions was to remove the print head and reseat it. However, unlike my previous Canon printers the locking bar is configured differently and seems to resist lifting and does not appear to release to allow removal of the...
Reply to Hat and panos,
Again many thanks for your assistance. I did contact Canon and their remedy was to do three deep cleans then a nozzle check then shut down printer for 24 hours and then do another deep clean. That seemed to materially improve the print quality. I will however try the...
Hat,
See if this works - the colors are generally accurate with the exception of the BK line - it is a faded black when printed by Nozzle Check but when I scanned it it has weird alternating colors?

Thanks for the response Hat,
I use Canon cartridges and refill/reset them. Lately I have used Atlas inks and lately I have been using HobbieColors for the MX 870 cartridge refills. I have used the German method whenever possible but on occasion I resort to the top fill method when I am unable...
I have an MX870 multifunction printer that is less than a year old and am having some recent problems with the print quality and head alignment. I began the alignment process after some web pages that I printed had very light, distorted black text. I tried several nozzle checks and cleanings and...
InkJet Master
"Neither Frank just highlight the section you want and Copy and paste it into Word"
..thanks - will give it a try. Still cannot figure out why all of the pages cannot be printed.

Has anyone attempted to print InkJetMasters instructions for filling the PGI-520/CLI-521 at http://www.nifty-stuff.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=44038#p44038
When I tried to print it for further use it only prints one page of the visuals and then jumps to the written texts replies and ignores...
My Canon text (black pigment ink) printing progressively got worse until finally it quit altogether. I tried, and repeated, numerous times all of the print head unclogging methods suggested by forum members without success.
One post that I had dismissed as being too radical suggested purging...
I have a Canon Pixma iP3500 color injet printer and want to store it for possible future use. I have had print head clogs with this printer - particularly with black pigment ink and would expect that allowing the printer to sit idle for months would be problematic.
Is there a way to...
Many thanks for the suggestions Harvey and qwertydude - not being totally familiar with the terms you both used - can I ask for further clarification of the following comments:
"If you put a new OEM cartridge in and it still didn't print one thing to check is if your purge unit is working...
In recent days I have been unable to print black text of any kind - colors work fine. These are the steps I have taken to try to resolve the problem:
1.Deleted and reinstalled the latest Canon driver for the iP3500
2. replaced the PGI-5 Black cartridge - no help
3. ran deep cleaning cycles...
Many thanks to azuchrome, quertydude, ghwelljr, and IanYY for their insightful comments.
Think I will stick with the top fill method, which I am comfortable with.
In a perfect world there would be simplistic universal cartridges and inks - apparently the printer manufacturers never heard or...
Just ordered the Canon iP4700 and would like guidance and advice on refilling the 5 cartridges ( 4 CLI 221 and one PGI 220).
Questions:
I have used the top fill method for previous I560 and iP3500 Canon cartridges that I have had.
Is there anything significantly different about refilling the...
I have a Canon Pixma iP 3500 using PGI-5 black pigmented cartridges and a Canon i560 using BCI-3e black pigmented cartridges. Except for the chip on the PGI-5 the two cartridges appear identical in size and configuration. I have several full BCI-3 cartridges that I would like to use in the iP...
