PeterBJ, I'm running the same versions of Firefox and IE that you are, Windows 7 64 bit, current in terms of updates, Service Packs etc. And I seem to remember other websites crashing a browser.
Well, none of the other websites I've browsed when Precision Colors crashed have caused any problems. I don't think it is The Monolith, my computer. I'll try with Mozilla, etc.
I've repeatedly tried to download the info from Precision Colors on flushing Cli 42 yellow, and each time something crashes Internet Explorer. Has anyone else had this problem? If you've been successful, could you post the procedure here?
Many thanks. I've got the Cli 8 cart on the way and I...
Okay. I've done one refill and I've ordered the CLI 8 cart to replace the OE yellow cart. Let me see if I understand this. I should:
1. Toss the OE cart, after removing its chip.
2. Install the chip on the CLI 8 cart.
3. Remove the print head and soak it in Windex w. ammonia or similar. How...
If Precision Colors advises against injection through the plug, I'll follow their lead. Also I doubt that med vials get anywhere near the sticks we would subject our carts to. Selling prints? My main concern would the permanence of the image, rather than absolute fidelity to my monitor. For...
Okay. Faced with the prospect of giving up the squeeze bottles and/or holding the carts upside down, I'll remove the plugs, and hope and pray I don't lose any! Of course, some tape would solve the problem.
IIRC, two fill cycles is enough to get full benefit from Precision Colors' profiles...
Just did my first refill of the ink carts. As is usual the anticipation was much worse than the procedure! I used the top fill, and used an awl to pry out the little ball. Enlarging the hole to 5/32" was a bit unnerving even with a Hitachi variable speed drill. Worry about going too far! A...
I just looked at the Epson V37 on B & H's website. It doesn't mention the ability to scan negatives ... so profiling may be "gilding the lily." I've heard good things about the Epson V500, and my experience with the V700 has been good, but it's much more expensive.
You might look into Profile Prism http://www.ddisoftware.com/prism/ Purchase of the software on a CD ROM includes an IT8 reference target and good instructions. I've used it with good success in profiling my Epson V700 and creating profiles for an Epson R1800 with a CISS system. Time now to...
Since you have a scanner why not consider a cheap laser printer for "office" work and the Canon PIxma Pro-100 for photos? I have a little Samsung laser which cost about $125.00 and also the Pro-100 which you can now get for about $100, after a $300 rebate. Presto, wonderful photos up to 13 x...
Hmmm... I'll have to try an experiment. I have a fine, sharp NEGATIVE taken on Kentmere ASA 100 35mm film. I scanned it to my computer and had Costco make a 8 x 12 BW print which they swore was silver process. I know it looks like a gelatin print. Costco does nice work, at least at my local...
I ordered the 4 x 6 glossy and 8.5 x 11 semi-gloss on Sunday 12/09 and they just arrived today, Wednesday 12/11. Shipped from Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, probably by dog sled considering the weather. Total cost was about $57, which ain't half bad!
Methodical, many thanks for the heads-up!
Thanks Stratman! I think I'll drill adjacent to the factory fill hole. Sounds much simpler. BTW, I like your avatar. I remember when I was 3 or 4 putting a bobby pin in an outlet. An "electrifying" experience.
Many thanks for the encouraging words! BTW, the excellent instructions with the Precision Colors kit I bought (with the resetter, oh yes) mention merely drilling a 5/32" hole adjacent to the factory fill port. This sounds a LOT easier than fiddling with extracting the ball, and then enlarging...
I bought my Pixma Pro 100 from Adorama and submitted the refund materials on or about November 8. The refund AmEx Card preloaded with $300.00 arrived the day after Thanksgiving. Pretty good response time! Love the printer, although the user interface is a bit more involved than on my decrepit...
