Just bought an Epson R3000. Pretty impressive machine and performance.
But I just saw that...

I got an old R200 just to see if I can fix it. It has the ink light continuously on. After some tests and examination I realized that one pin for the LM cartridge does not exist. So I am looking for a cart with all pins working :-)
OK, after getting on everybody's nerves with my hyperanalysis and having calculated the NVP of all possible combinations (not really but I did the math for some) I finally got a new R3000 ... :hide

Here's another fallacy: things being made in the same factory are necessarily the same. They may very well not be the same, even if they use the same ingredients. Sometimes I hear people complain about this or that being made in China or even the same factory. A supplier factory has the...
Don't want to make it contageous but this is a classic primer

Proper processes produce proper tones. In general I am able to produce really nice wedges. Different emulsions have different behaviours though, some are more sensitive. Also black ink negatives have the highest contrast. Not so with other colours. Let's not forget that originally it is a...
I would go for a used Pro-1, the one that I can get used is still under guarantee, but I am afraid of the costs if it is not used so much. I do not print that much, maybe not even once a week and I know the ink costs are quite high while refills are not yet there. Even then, you need to refill...
I also expect pigments to be better but no experience yet. This is why I am between getting a new Pro-100 or a used R2880... Currently I am using Canon and Pelikan inks. I used others as well but I did not like them. With these two I have got surprising absorption from different colors. I do...
Hello The Hat
Thanks for the response. I also hope the Pro-100 would be sufficient to get me started, I just thought the pigment inks of the R2880 might be better. Although I understand, the newer inks of the Pro-100 might match the slightly older technology of the R2880, I wonder if when used...
Hello turbguy
Thanks for your response.
I have only used dye inks, never pigment. I have also used inks from different manufacturers. Often it is not black that absorbs UV light best and different inksets have different behaviour. You need to carefully select the color that allows for the...
Hi all
I am new to the forum but I already appreciate the wealth of information. My main interests are to print my b&w photos at home and produce digital negatives for alternative processes. I have been using an MP640 for the latter but feel I need to make a step up with regards to the inks...
Hi all
I decided I want to do more printing at home. Up to now I mainly use "home" photo printers. I like printing color photos but also print B&W and negatives for my alternative processes through a home made UV printer. Here's what I am looking for:
Print both color and b&w
Print on matte...
