Just came up with a different approach to printing black and white using only black inks, and I thought I should share it for those interested.
Instead of using custom profiles, RIP software, or specialized all-black inksets (expensive), I simply used black ink in all the cartridges of a 1400...
Well, in the case of the R2000, it simply doesn't (the gamut actually gets a little smaller).
I use an i1 pro with ~1000 patches, I doubt the profile can be improved much further.
The R2000 uses a unique inkset. Using vivid magenta in a M/PM/C/PC printer will probably help with the red and...
I tried replacing the Magenta in an R2000 with the Vivid Magenta from IS.
After profiling, the results were pretty much the same with what I get when using the regular Magenta (the rest of the inks are all from OCP if that matters).
There is only a very small difference in gamut when inspecting...
Are you sure about that? I have never seen a CISS placed higher than the printer base (the base of the CISS is on the same level with the printer base, therefore the cartridges are actually higher). You'll get an overflow when the base of the CISS (the point of maximum pressure in the reservoir...
Thanks for all the info!
I guess the only reason I noticed it is because I use the printers a lot and there wasn't any cleaning required for a period of time, if I had run a dozen or so cleaning cycles I probably wouldn't have noticed the extra ink...
I'll try leaving them on and see if that...
I have external waste tanks installed on all of them and all are running on CIS systems.
I use all of them daily, so each one is turned on and off twice every day. But as I said, during the last month I never had to run a cleaning cycle (maybe once or twice on the 1400 running pigment) and at...
Is there any way we can stop Epson printers from wasting ink when powered on?
I've recently noticed that in about a month's time, even though not running any cleaning cycles on 3 of my printers, R2000, R2880 and 1400, I got around 70 to 100ml of ink in each waste tank.
I'm not really sure when...
Thanks, we'll be looking forward to the review. Fingers crossed they got this one right, cause their regular magenta is pretty much unusable...
Thanks for the offer, I'll keep it in mind for when I need some.
Although octopus office and the other suppliers will probably get it in stock soon.
Since I buy all the ink I use from Octopus Office, apart from the OCP Magenta which is very weak and which I replaced with the one from IS, I was hoping there was a good alternative sold by Octopus Office.
They sell several types of Inktec and their own Octopus pigment inks, question is, which...
Just wondering how well these "page wide" printers perform when printing photos.
They inherently use pigment inks, so refilling with high quality pigment based inks shouldn't be a problem.
And that 40-page per minute speed in photo quality sounds tempting.
Has anybody tried printing photos on...
The Surelab is dye based (inks are probably similar to Claria/those used in the Noritsu labs).
I would personally never risk using pigment inks in a 25000 machine :)
The two I have are well over 20000 each and they still feed paper perfectly.
I only get the problem you mention in two occasions:
1) When I cut the paper myself and the side that goes first into the printer is not perfectly straight (make sure both corners are exactly 90 degrees)
2) When the...
Yes, the manual mentions that you can do that with the service program.
But I haven't been able to find the adjustment program for the R1900 and R2000 yet. Do you have a download link you can share?
Is there any way to generate a report with the total number of printed pages, cartridge passes etc, for the R2000, R2880 and similar printers?
This can be done with some printers (like the 1400) through WicReset, and from the printer menu itself for the 24/44" models (7900,9900).
I have yet to...
I tried all the above suggestions, nothing worked. The problem is almost certainly mechanical...
If you manage to do this (which is pretty much what I was thinking), there would be much more interesting things to try, say "convert" a cheap P50 to a CMYK+Red+Orange, essentially an R2000...
Do...
I'm not sure what I'm thinking is even possible, but maybe someone more knowledgeable can help.
Recently one of my R2000s stopped printing one color (Cyan) entirely. I tried cleaning several times, it didn't work.
I asked an Epson technician to take a look, he suggested replacing the printhead...
Thanks for that link, very informative.
One thing I don't get after browsing it though, is why they recommend using the BKP115 black with almost all of the C, CX and workforce series (that only have one black).
Won't there be issues with that ink rubbing off when used on glossy papers?
Or is...
