I don't think I know what you mean. What is "none"? I also got lost in "units", "resetter" and I don't know what it means to "pass" a refill.
I've gotten pretty good at the German technique with my last Canon. I still have some of the inks left over (BCI-type) but they probably aren't usable...
Not that they say that, exactly. What the manual says is:
In another part of the manual it says:
Unfortunately, this new printer has 6 tanks and some of them are already half way down! (Crikey!) I figure it must be well over 100$ to replace them all. What kind of trouble am I looking at by...
Previously, as an experiment, it was recommended that I cleanout my 3eBK cartridge and refill it with 6BK. I was told that if I was to refill it with the 3eBK I would have to clean it out first. Why is that? What's the danger of not cleaning it out first? Is it a matter of longevity, because...
Maybe the problem is that I didn't wait long enough for the Windex to do its work, but a few days after my last post I printed something and I've printed out about half a dozen pages of text since then, and I don't even see the slightest bit of streaking. I've noticed, however, that the text is...
I did like you said. The nozzle check just got worse and worse. On the 3rd page, I couldn't see a dot of anything out of the 3e cartridge.
The odd thing about before the Windex, is the text seemed to streak worse towards the end of page. This gave me the impression that the clog occurred not...
Ok, well I've cleaned out the 3e cartridge and filled it with 6BK. I still get those damn blank streaks. So I tried pouring water on the purge pads and doing the cleaning, and the water disappeared, so I guess the purge pads are ok. It still doesn't print right.
I guess at this point the only...
I'm using Precision Colors. And 6BK does seem to go pretty fast. It's the colours that seem to have a lot of staying power. So when I clean, the BCI-3e cartridge, should I put in 6BK or 3eBK?
I wish hadn't put so much ink into the cartridge. It'll be a shame to have to lose it all.
And when I do clean it out, what ink should I replace it w/? I've got less than half my 6BK left (I'd say easily enough for one BCI-6 refill, which I will need to do soon) but I've not yet broken the seal...
The reasons why are academic, I guess. Like I said, I printed about 20 pages the other day and they were just fine. I'm hoping it's just a problem of old ink, but I just printed out 2 pages and they both have blank streaks on them. I'm not sure what to do. Kicking it to the curb is looking...
Well I didn't bother myself w/cleaning out the cartridge, so I just put some photo black in. Unfortunately, the sponge gave me more resistance than I remember w/the other cartridges, and I seem to have displaced the sponge a bit :( I hope that doesn't matter.
And I printed about 20 pages of...
It's my intention to just fill the tank, since it doesn't have any ink in it anyway right now, but then I saw these deposits in it, and thought before I waste some precious 6BK fluid, I'd check w/you to see if this cartridge is worth keeping anyway. Here's what it looks like now:
Does this...
Ok, thanks for that. So I use the German method to refill, but so far I've only done it w/6 cartridges, not the 3e. Is there anything special I have to know about that? Also, how much 6BK should I put into 3eBK?
The problem w/replacing the cartridge is that they don't grow on trees and I don't have a lot of dough for guesswork right now. If others agree that that's the next step, then I'll go there. What about just cleaning it out?
I'm afraid I've not been able to figure out the difference between...
It's definitely not a matter of starvation in the cartridge. Only yesterday was I informed that the ink in 3eBK was low, and I've had this problem ever since it was handed me down over a year ago.
Actually I've already tested my purge pads recently (if you'll look towards the pics at the end of that thread) with water. Is that good enough? Also a did a "service mode" request and it indicated that the "waste counter" was <50%. Is that the same thing?
I could click that checkbox for...
It seems that the only one that ever clogs is 3eBK and it does it a lot, and sometimes cleaning makes it worse! I've got a Canon i860, and I've refilled some of the OEM cartridges, but not the 3eBK one yet. However, that cartridge is very old. My best guess is that that the 3eBK ink has these...
If I liked the quality I wouldn't be jamming these forums w/questions. The answer to your other questions is "no". Lessee... When I look at what I need it for, it's pretty good at printing black, 'sept when it doesn't print, but that's not a show-stopper. If I print something from MapQuest I...
