Where to drill hole for German Durchstich method?

Yes, the marking is still used with the 526 cartridges I have. I drilled at the PP mark and aimed slightly downwards. No problems at all!

First time refilling opaque cartridges CLI-526/PGI-525

Thanks for investing the time to sort this out! I did a check on the pigment black (PGI525BK,WJ1128) and I can confirm it also has a density of 1.0 - 1.05.

First time refilling opaque cartridges CLI-526/PGI-525

I use 1g/ml to have a rough indication of how much ink to add to limit the number of times I must disconnect the syringe and weigh the cartridge. My scale was 15 euros and it has an accuracy of d=0.01 g. Ofcourse manufactured in China...

First time refilling opaque cartridges CLI-526/PGI-525

I agree. Wasn't too sure about how long the silicon plugs would last, though. In my MP640 I initially used top fill and secured the holes with self drilling phillips screws. Had to cut out the plastic cover inside with a dremel tool for the required top clearance. Didn't want to do that with the...

First time refilling opaque cartridges CLI-526/PGI-525

Hi Martin, is that you? Just a few thoughts. * For the German Durchstich method I would recommend sharp needles from at least 5 cm. I couldn't get the blunt ones through the sponge; * I used a 1 mm drill to make the hole in the cartridge. Didn't use the carpenter's owl because of its taper...

First time refilling opaque cartridges CLI-526/PGI-525

Recently I replaced my MP640 by an MG6150 (anyone know how to change your forum name?) with the opaque cartridges. I used to refill the MP640 using the German Durchstich method and it was my intention to swicth to the top filling method for the opaque cartridges, with a toothpick as a dipstick...

Thank you for your advice. It was very helpful and I just finished refilling the cartridges for the first time. I will post my findings in the "New weapon of Canon....." thread.

Where to drill hole for German Durchstich method?

I'm about to refill the cartridges for my MG6150. I found different information on where to drill the hole for the needle: 1. as close as possible to the bottom of the cartridge, straight in; 2. just below the notch on the sponge chamber, aimed slightly downwards. Which one is to be prefered...

City Ink Express Can not get ink into cartridges

Ok. I'm not into CIS-es so maybe this doesn't make sense. Don't you somehow have to prime the cartridges to get things going? Kinda like if you want to drain the gas tank of your car with a hose. Suck it through and then it will keep flowing...

City Ink Express Can not get ink into cartridges

Hi Crosby37, did you see the intstruction video on cityinkexpress' website? It's located at: http://www.cityinkexpress.co.uk/ciss/canon/mg6150/mg-series/dye-ink And then the "video guides" tab. Hope this helps...

    Canon factory installed cartridges

I have a question about the cartridges that come in the box with Canon printers. I bought a Canon MG6150 and the salesrep told me that the cartridges are about half full. Is this true? I cannot check as they are opaque. The printer's ink level monitoring indicates that the cartridges are full...
