Whichever one you take, make sure that a chipresetter is available for the cartridges.
I'm not sure whether a chip resetter for the new LC-223 cartridges is already availabe.
Well, I have refilled the LC-21 cartridges for the first time now, using the BroLuer tool. You need some force to keep the BroLuer tool tightly fitted to the cartridge's air inlet, but the T-shape of the BroLuer makes that really easy. The instruction card is very precise about the amount of ink...
I also bought a DCP-J132w recently. There are chips on the LC-121 cartridges but I don't think they are used by the printer to keep track of ink levels. When I remove a cartridge and reinsert it, the printer asks something like "did you make any changes to <color>?". If I say no, the ink level...
I know this is an old thread, but anyways...
I bought a Brother DPC-J132W for day to day printing and copying (my Canon is giving me too many inkflow problems).
I also got the broluer adapter and ink from octopus.de
As soon as I refilled the cartridges first time I'll post my findings.
Hi Mikling, in the second video, you use your thumb to block the air vent to control the amount of ink that is sucked into the sponge.
Is there a particular reason that you do not saturate the sponges? What I mean is not block the air vent but keep injecting ink in the ink reservoir until no...
Don't buy the rechargeable cartridges as they are of far less quality than the genuine Canon cartridges. It's fairly easy to refill the Original Canon cartridges and reset them with a chip resetter. Search for "top fill method" or "German durschstich" in this forum.
After (top) refilling I cover the refill hole with my finger and hold the cartridge over the kitchen sink. Then I remove my finger and check how fast the cartridge drips. Usually it varies between once per half second and once per second. If it takes longer I set the cartridge aside for purging.
@hat, I already asked them. The quality in direct printing is worse because there's no printer drivers on the iPad. That's why they recommend printing from iPad via PC/Mac to the printer. But I want direct printing. It looks like they convert the tekst to an image, which causes the poor quality...
It turned out they also have a free app for testing with your printer before you buy. I downloaded it and could print the test pdf directly from my iPad to my MG6150. However, I'm not going to buy the app because the printed text quaility was pretty bad (thick pixalized characters). I think they...
The best option I could find (thanks again Peter, for the pointers) is the "Pixma Printing Solutions" app. From within a document you have to use the "Open in" option (not "print" as this will look for an airprint compatible device) and then select the app.
Unfortunaltely, you cannot print...
@The Hat: That's how I do it too. But in this case I am trying to get my dad to use an iPad and he refuses to use any computing device that doesn't interface to his beloved MG6150 :-)
@Peter: thanks for the pointer, I'm going to check it out.
As the MG6150 does not support airprint, I cannot print directly from my iPad. I've been looking for an ios app that enables direct printing from iPad to MG6150 (direct, not thru cloud). All I found was the Canon Easy Photo Print (iEPP) app that only prints photos or scanned images. I also want...
Could the ink flow issues be caused by purging? Ever since I started to purge my cartridges I see flow problems every now and then. Mostly with magenta. Maybe the purge process somehow damages the sponge?
It would be interesting to know whether members who don't purge their carts also have...
ok. I just purged a set of cartridges yesterday. They are drying right now with the paper towel method. I wil lmonitor the first refill closely to detect any anomalies.
I read Grandad35's thread and can confirm that I also conduct the two tests that are mentioned:
1. cover the top fill hole with your finger and release above a sink to check the dripping frequency;
2. blow in the vent holes.
The magenta cart passed both tests after the refill. Dripping about...
I ran into the following situation.
After printing a 4" x 6" photo, I noticed some stripes. I did a nozzle check and found some missing lines in magenta. After a cleaning cycle and another nozzle check everything looked ok again.
The next photo had very weird colors. I did another nozzle...
Sorry it took a bit longer to try the suggestions.
Soaking an additional 24 hours didn't solve the issue.
I just finished the purge unit test and that also passed. Pool of fluid didn't disappear from the pads after a couple of minutes and after the cleaning cycle the pads were without the...
