>So I guess there are a few questions here:
Q:>- Are there any genuine universal inks?
A: No. All inks are formulated for different makes and models, have varying chemistry and ingredients.
Q:>- Are they safe to use?
A: I wouldn't want to risk it. Would you want a transfusion without knowing...
After over five years of refilling Canon BCI-3 & 6 tanks I finally encountered cross contamination. A few weeks ago I refilled 40 empty and partially empty tanks and through carelessness I either overfilled or didn't seal a few of the tanks as well as I should have. The offending tanks were...
If this doesn't prove a picture is worth a thousand words nothing will. Do you have any idea as to how many cleaning and deep cleaning cycles have been run through this printer?
I took a look at global-inks.com website and noticed several things. They state made in USA, but give no indication as to who makes their ink, they don't list current Canon printers using BCI-6 tanks for either bulk ink or tanks and for the items they do list, the prices seem kind of high...
If you go to the Formulabs web site there is a listing of all the inks they manufacture. You will find that they only make one grade of ink based upon the stock numbers. WeInk is a reputable supplier with a good reputation. However, www.alotofthings.com which is located only a few miles from the...
Which software did you use to print the photos? Even though some consider it low end beginner stuff, the Easy Photo Print software bundled with Canon printers is excellent. The cropping and image correction tools are especially good. If you don't need the power of PhotoShop, etc... you may want...
Early last year I purchased several Canon refurb'd s820's off eBay. All had a full set of OEM Canon tanks and new factory sealed print heads. Wasn't a bad deal at the time. The printer was $25 and s&h was $20. $45 for an $80 print head and 6 OEM BCI-6 tanks.
Rob,
I'm working on a new method of refilling that will eliminate syringes and totally eliminate (except for the terminally clumsy) inky fingers. I've e-mailed fotofreek with the details and once I've finalized and tested it, I'll post pictures and instructions here. If it works as designed the...
It happened to me the other day. I can't remember which thread, but I think it dealt with fading prints. It was a fairly long reply and in it I commented that as long as good (multiple) backups are maintained, fading isn't a concern to me, since I can reprint any that aren't looking so well...
I've seen this ink at Sam's Club and a close friend tried it on his Canon s820. It appears to be universal type ink. The one size fits all concept doesn't apply well to inkjet printers. Too many variables involved - viscosity, chemical formulations, pigment vs. non pigment, ph balance, etc...
This is normal for Canon print heads. Of the three most recent printheads that I have taken out of the sealed bags, all had the same fluid. Initial print head cleaning should purge the fluid from the nozzles.
Thanks!!! Exactly what I've been looking for. I tried all the usual sources locally - Lowes, HD, Ace, Radio Shack, mom and pop hardware stores. None of them had any. I could get them in metal, but not nylon. Once I get some, I'll post back with an update.
Since the hole is on the flat side of the reservoir it's easy to seal with duct tape. On the top of the cartridge duct tape is problematic due to the uneven surfaces. My method is ugly, but it does work. I'm still looking for nylon thumbscrews that I could use on top as an alternative to duct tape.
The individual fotofreek refers to has nearly ruined comp.periphs.printers. Fortunately this group won't fall victim to his intentional misrepresentations and profane language. I think we need to provide a link to Nifty-Stuff in each of our postings over there to encourage users to check out...
A BCI-6 or BCI-3 cartridge is the same regardless of the machine model. The i860 is frequently listed on vendor sites. It's the previous model of what is now the iP4000 and it uses exactly the same cartridges/ink. MIS is good ink and so is Atlantic Inkjet, but I'm partial to Sensient-Formulabs...
My current scanner is an Epson 1660 that I got a few years ago. I've owned a bunch of scanners - A couple of Microteks (good products), HP (decent), Plustek (no way), a $4000.00 (rebadged UMAX) piece of @#%$ at my first print shop and a couple of DFI hand scanners. The Epson isn't a new one by...
I just did some printing in different modes and to me it appears that bi directional mode is used except for the higher quality settings. However it was very difficult to judge. Since only the plain paper mode allows quality settings of 4 or 5 that may be the reason. The carrier moves more...
I haven't noticed any bleeding into other colors since I use a photo setting with anything other than plain paper. Otherwise there will be bronzing caused by the pigmented ink. That also may explain any bleeding since the pigmented ink isn't absorbed into photo paper as well as the dye based...
#1 Yes, the BCI-3ebk is used for photos in plain paper mode. A simple test is to print a photo with a fair amount of black or dark areas using plain paper mode and again using any of the other modes. Notice the difference in print speeds. This is due to the much wider path of ink from the...
