My two cents: There are anyway some similarities between our printers and 3D ones, they transfer to real world what we see on the screen of our computers.
It requires also a lot of DIY, and this seems familiar to most forumers :D.
There are already plenty of free "objects" to print...
Yes, you can see it on the picture attached to post 16 but currently no PGBK at all. I tested it again today while reinserting the cleaned printhead, but it went fine
I feared that... a second hand printhead is on the way. Buying a new one will cost more than a new (and more up to date) printer. Given that it still prints fine using dye colors one of the options is to keep it to print CD\DVD and pictures or graphics and buy another for text, may be a little...
I did the following:
#1 Rinsed the head over and over in medium hot water
#2 Soaked all night and until lunch time with W5 (with no ammonia).
#3 Rinsed the head with warm distilled water
#4 soaked in distilled water for more than an hour
#5 put the head on some folded toilet paper and put...
I did a further little research and it seems that the Epson's Pro 3800 has no automatic driver update: on Epson's site online user guide https://files.support.epson.com/htmldocs/pro38_/pro38_ug/softw_10.htm#S-00200-01200-00100 no automatic update option is shown, only a manual procedure.
@pharmacist @PeterBJ : I had a better look at the Ammonia I bought.
It is Ammonia for cleaning purposes, the label says "Ammonia Hydroxid 5-10%" so how much should I increase the Ammonia parts to be like "concentrated"? 3 (30%\10%) or 6 (30%\5%) times?
@Lukasz : thank you very much for this. I'll do some some check on my printhead and will post results.
We could do also a little guide to keep as a reference for other forum fellows
Hi Harry,
the software of your printer is made of different pieces: the driver, the bundled programs (e.g. with my Canon I got "CD label print" and "Easy Photo Print") or the printer firmware.
I don't have direct experience with Epson software, but usually drivers must be updated manually...
Greeeat!!! :bow
I want to check if my printhead is electrically shorted or defective. I have just bought a multimeter but I have little experience in electronics so I am wondering if you please could guide me in checking it.
To check PGBK I did the following:
Multimeter set on 200k ohms...
that hole is untouched :D
I'll try again to clean it with pharmacist's fluid but I fear that the head could be electronically damaged. This because last time I cleaned it water flowed through easily but on the other hand I was able to get the PGBK back again even if for two prints only. I'm...
I use the German method and I made a mess last time I refilled the PGBK before experiencing the issue. Probably I overfilled the cartridge because it began to spill ink everywhere so this could explain the leak in the picture
I am using the original OEM Canon cartridges refilled with InkTec ink and resetted with a cartridge resetter.
The first time I took away the printing head (in June) to clean it I took a few pictures:
Could this be similar to the short you experienced? The leak is on the side where the CLI...
I've just finished refilling the carts, the printer is doing some cleaning cycle by itself and emptied cyan, yellow and magenta carts (this afternon the first time I pulled them out they were still at 15%).
I hoped it was only a problem of empty cartridges but no luck :barnie. So now, apart...
