On your question #2 this is what I do. I use my syringe to drop a few cc's of ink into the large outlet and see if the sponge absorbs the ink quickly without sign of clogging. I then blow into the vent to blow out whatever I can out of the outlet. This is sort of my way of purging the cartridge...
Good suggestion stratman. I have not thought of that at all. It has been suggested that 1 liter of ink for each of the 9 colors is already too much. I just did not think of uneven use of different colors of inks. I will try to see if I can find any sign of excessive consumption of certain colors...
There are already 70+ people signed up for the project. The total number of full sized photos (13" x 19") to be printed is now estimated over 700 or 1400 depending on how many will be allowed to print by each individual. I can imagine that some will probably buy a box 25 sheets of paper and will...
Turbguy, thanks for pulling the amazing text regarding HP's thermo bubble jet technology. There is no doubt about the severity of stress of thermo bubble jet print heads in operation. This reminds me the engines of modern automobiles. They are made with tremendous precision and technology...
Sigh! I donated my completely healthy i960 to a Goodwill donation truck a few months ago (end of last year). It had no print head because it was loaned to a friend to troubleshoot his i950 and was subsequently lost (damaged and trashed). The friend's i950 was probably donated too (with my print...
I just printed some IRS tax forms. I timed my mp830 printing. It took 7 seconds to print the first page and 9 for the 2nd. Both pages are full of text. If these were printed by my new R2880 ir would have taken a minute for each page. The difference is huge in printing text documents. My mp830...
Wayne, I almost laughed when I saw your post. I understand you are probably burnt by Canon before. So was I.
But honestly it isn't the speed that kills the printer. It is the process of refilling that isn't perfect that causes the problem. I have printed tons of paper through a few Canon...
I am talking about printing at max quality, which is desired fo printing photos. I have had 4 different Epson models. Each one prints far slower than my Canons. I have got a new R2880. It prints a 8x10 photo in max quality mode in about 7 and a half minutes. My Canon ip4700 takes less than 3...
This is a very common problem in refilling PGI-220, PGI-225 and PGI-520, PGI-525 OEM cartridges that contain black pigment ink. You need to purge the PGI-520/525 cartridges before refilling. If your print head is not clogged just purge those cartridges and refill them again. They will work just...
I would think it is an Epson bug that Epson needs to address. Call Epson. If the cartridges are Epson OEM and are pretty full still they have to be recognized by every R3000 printer. Think about it. If you have two R3000 are you willing to accept that you can not interchange OEM cartridges...
What a surprise this is. I have been using Kirkland photo paper since Costco had it. I was impressed by its older batches. The latest (probably made in Mexico) is still very good but don't feel the same any more.
I just placed an order for another set of OEM cartridges for the new R2880. The original set came with the printer is 50% used already. I just want to have plenty of time looking for the source of good after market K3 ink. In addition to online shops I want to check with a few local inkjet shops...
Have you seen an Epson printing photos? It is extremely slow. You can expect at least 5 - 8 minutes per 8x10 photo. If you have a few photos to copy you will be frustrated. Canon printers are much faster.
We continued to get people signing up for the project. This proves that small amount of money from each participants can buy everyone the ability to print the best photos with a high end pigment based Epson photo printer and with a lot of ink to spill too.
Your nozzle check print reminds me my i960 that suffered from a similar clogging symptom before. It looks like a badly clogged print head. No, you don't want to dilute your ink. The ink is formulated to withstand the heat of the heaters in the nozzles. By diluting it the ink will lose that...
Canon does not enforce it very strictly. I have heard a story somewhere on the web that someone brought his printer to a Canon authorized service center. Not only they replaced his print head under warranty they also tossed out the compatibles in that printer and put in a set of new OEM carts...
I have printed a few old photos on the R2880 and made a simple side by side comparison with the prints from a Pro9000. Both printers are using OEM inks. So this comparison is somewhat interesting. I found Canon prints a little lighter and Epson a little darker. In terms of colors both looked...
Is photo printing your main application with the printer? Do you print text documents a lot too? Do you need to print larger than 8x11? WIll you refill your cartridges? If you can describe more details of what you do with the printer you will hear more proper suggestions for you.
Thanks. But I probably can post only my own photos. I am not the organizer of the project. It belongs to a community group. The project participants vary in age from teenagers to seniors. I am one who is assigned to be in charge of getting a printer, inks and refilling for the printer. There is...
All are perfect except that your black suit is printed grey. Isn't this a problem that you are complaining in another post? Whatever the root cause of your problem is your statement in here is very confusing and very inconsistent between this post and the complaint in the other post. If Image...
