I installed a club owned R2880 a year ago with the internet connected. I installed the software and driver came in the CD. Afterwards, there were from time to time messages apparently from Epson offering firmware updates for the printer. I believe when I installed the printer I had the automatic...
There is indeed a limit of lifespan of piezo based print heads. The stress by the mechanical flexing of the piezo crystal eventually will break it off. People likely will continue to waste expensive ink through it by endless cleaning cycles until realizing it's not clogging but end of service...
When new you don't need to prime OEM cartridges because Epson has done it in the factory. But later on when you refill them you may need to prime them if you let them run out of ink.
I won't consider refilling Epson OEM cartridges. The refillables have ARC chips on them and the tank is semi...
By the way, I thought this is a well known thing. Is it? I don't remember how WeInk recommendation was for priming Epson cartridges. It was on their web site before. It was far more complicated. I did not try it back then. I did experience a lot of clogging issues from my R300. I never go back...
I can try. I do not own the printer, the club does. I don't have access to the printer right now so let me try to dig out all about priming the refillable cartridges from the internet.
Here some web pages at www.inksupply.com. It shows a device called BADP on it. It is a fundamental tool for...
Sorry for the wordy lengthy post I made last night. I probably did not make it very clear. It was late last night. If I said anything that offended anyone I apologize.
Let me make it brief this time. After reading Grandad35's post and spent 10 minutes, not hours, on the forum thread he provided...
I deleted my post i wrote last night. someone did not like it. That's OK. I agree I maybe wrong. I take it back. Sorry for the trouble. I'll rewrite it later to make it clearer.
Thanks, Santer. Will need to wait for the club members meet again in March and decide if a 2nd printer will be purchased. Will check Amazon by then. Good to know that R2880 is still available.
If you have a set of Chinese made refillable cartridges with ARC, use them so that the lights for the cartridges will go off. Follow the priming instruction for the cartridges to prime them. This is not to be confused with priming the print head. If the cartridges are primed they will work...
Grandad35, I am not an expert like Mikling is. He brought up a bunch of terminologies. So I asked:
Are you suggesting that grey ink will be less affected by lighting conditions?
What new frontier?
Science of mixing colors strategically?
Make colors more stable?
Could you elaborate more...
Is it because Canon designed the MX700 to be inferior? It is a possibility. On the other hand the i560 was a great printer. I had a couple at a time and I wish I still had them. So it is probably not appropriate to make a conclusion by comparing the prints from the two printers.
I downloaded...
This is very true on the R2880 that I use. R3880 and R2880 use the same K3 ink set. I can imagine that R3880 can be even better. Not only the colors are right on the greys are nearly perfect as well. This applies to Epson paper and some other generic paper that I use on Canon printers. Just my 2...
Please don't just throw some terminologies. I am really disappointed. You posted something very technical and you will want to respond to questions or challenges to what you posted. This is a discussion forum. If you refuse to discuss then don't post. Is this your way out of unknown territory?
Mikling, when the lighting changes (warm, cold or else) the colors will change regardless the grey is printed with a grey dye, a mix of DMY dyes or with tiny droplets of CMY dyes at a high density. Are you suggesting that grey ink will be less affected by lighting conditions?
What new frontier...
Job well done, Popsy. Try the photo black ink on the 3ebk cartridge. Just don't print aggressively too quickly. Start with a cleaning cycle and print some text, not too much text. Gradually increase the amount of text in your file. It will slowly clear the clog. This is particularly effective...
This printer has clogs all over every channel not just the 3ebk. This printer is grossly neglected or abused. The purge unit could be all dried up and malfunctioned. The print head, however, is not dead yet. It can be saved. Soak it with ammonia solution for a few days. It can be recovered if...
