I doubt that cost of tooling is a reason for Canon to make non opaque cartridges for Pro-100 and Pro-10. Just look at the printers and see how many tooling tasks are required for each new printer they make. Whoever makes the cartridges for Canon (in Japan) will do it under Canon's specification...
I found it harder to mess with the plastic ball. You will have to remove the label on the top of it which is not that simple although not impossible. To remove the ball it is also not that simple although again not impossible. I did it before but I found drilling a new hole a lot simpler. I had...
There is really no benefit from an automatic weekly or even daily print job. Epson has programmed its firmware to know when to execute a cleaning cycle depending on how long the printer has not printed. It is an essential functionality for a printer to be able to go idle for a long time and be...
Forgot to mention, Epson wide format printers such as R3000, R3880, etc all have 3rd party refillable cartridges to choose from. You will not have issues with resetting chips.
Why would you want to buy a Canon Pro-100 while you can get much common Epsons, such as R3000, R3880? There are a couple of reasons to avoid Canon Pro-100. First there aren't that many sources of ink available. They tend to be more expensive. 2ndly the print head is still a thermo print head...
I understand that the German method is very popular. I tried it and I did not find it easier than the top fill method. I remain to refill with the top fill method. The tricky part is the drilling on the top of the reservoir tank. It needs to be precise so that the plugs will fit and air tight. I...
Based on my 10 years of experience in inkjet printers the page count sometimes isn't indicative of a printer's remaining life. The printer could have had several print heads through and the very last one on the printer could be very new still. But I agree the page count is a good reference...
I had about 5 maybe 6 ip6000s back then. Somehow the print head got damages easily. The print head is probably no longer available. It was a slow printer and the photos it printed was not that good. That was probably due to Canon's older BCI-6 inks. I will give it a last effort to see if I can...
Sorry, I did not read all the posts. You can try to locate a used ip4200 with no print head and see if your new print head will be able to bring an ip4200 back to life. I am about to throw out a perfect working ip6000 but without a print head. This one is not worth saving.
MP500 is about the...
Exactly for the same reason I almost never use my Canon Pro9000 any more. I use an Epson R2880 exclusively now. Despite the cost of ink is far more expensive the quality of the photo easily justifies it.
In my opinion if you can fine these MP models in great working shape buy them. All new Canon printers all come with cartridges way too small, not to mention more difficult to refill.
The nozzle check looks like having a clog in the photo black to me still. Better start to look for a replacement print head while trying to diagnose and fix it. I once had an ip4200. It's a nice looking one and loved it. Worth saving it with a new print head. I replaced mine with an ip4300. The...
Had an opportunity to use the club's R2880 last night along with two club members. I was again impressed by the R2880. I wish I had gotten one myself.
The printer was set in using matte black ink for printing on non glossy photo papers. I wanted to print glossy prints so we had to switch it...
Thanks Joe. I remember selecting among printers including R2000 and R2880 last year. I actually chose a R2880 because it used no gloss optimizer. I avoided R2000 because it used older inks including a gloss optimizer. Had I known it actually produces better glossy prints I might have thought...
Why is it called a seal or a rubber seal? Why would Canon use a seal to seal off the ink inlet? For all these years of using all Canon printers It has always been a filter to me. It is a very fine mesh made of polyester (not sure if it is metal) that protects the inlet from getting any dusts or...
I myself printed a few glossy sheets in last April last year with the club's R2880 printer. I don't remember having an issue back then. Having been used to print with Canon Pro9000, had there been a bronzing issue I would have noticed it. I talked to several club members last night. None had any...
Just saw this post from you here. I am wondering how bad the bronzing is. There is no picture to see it. I used an Epson R2880 that used the same 8 colors of ink shown in your post. I don't remember having a bronzing issue. The ink was from Hobbicolors. The cartridges were from ebay from a HK...
