If your Yellow cartridge has a flow issue it will cause clogging very quickly when you print a photo. The fact that it will print just fine by just doing a cleaning cycle you have a leaking cartridge. Most of the time the one that leaks the color of that cartridge will stop printing. But some...
Wil, there is one thing about Canon printers that is not brought up.
All Canon printers will move the print head to park at its parking pad after idling for something like 30 seconds. By turning off the printer the print head is also moved to park at the same parking pad. So essentially...
Did you let the Cyan run out of ink before this happened? If you did it may be just a matter that the Cyan cartridge needs to be primed. This happened to many of my Epson printers quite a few times. Of course this is just one possibility.
All cartridges are subject to cracks although it is rare. The top of the cartridge is welded on by a heating process. Sometimes it cracks and leaks. You won't see the crack visually but it happens sometimes. Try to use another yellow cartridge. This is much easier than messing with the print...
Joe, thanks for the comment. When I first tried to use a syringe with the tip cut with 2 small notches I felt it tight. The cartridges I had were refillables from China. I hesitated a little but went ahead to push the syringe in. It worked and worked really well. I have since done it many times...
I have used refurbished Canon print heads from China with no problems. I bought it because the seller had a 100% positive rating on ebay. The IS ink seller everyone praises do not even have a 100% rating. I would buy refurbished print head from China again if I ever need one again. It's not as...
The print head is likely fried beyond repair. The printer is detecting a bad print head. Be careful to try a new one. There is a chance that a new print head be fried immediately by a printer with a fried print head.
It sounds more like your CISS is causing the yellow ink slowly leaking out of the print head. I have seen quite a few incidences like that but from cartridges that were not correctly sealed. A cleaning cycle would fix it for a little while then the problem would return.
I would check the CISS...
This is a good idea. I guess you can mix the CMY ink with equal amount of each color to make your own photo black ink. This is easier than having to buy a photo black ink.
I know this may not be a question any longer. But I found it easy to modify a regular syringe to achieve perfect priming just like using the adapter from Ink Supply.
What I do is to cut two small notches on the tip of the syringe and makes it looks just like the tip of the adapter from Ink...
For whatever reason if garbage was written into the chip to the wrong location in the (serial EEPROM) chip some sensitive data in it may be overwritten. A resetter is supposed to reset only some part of the chip. The part that is not supposed to be touched if altered may yield the content of the...
I have finally acquired a R2880 in decent shape (very low miles) and have been enjoying photo printing and experiencing the inks. From the Hobbicolors K3 ink that I am using I have found that the matte black is the darkest black and the photo black is more like a dark gray. However, despite...
It will cost $100+ for a new one. Hat is right that the print head has done it. It is worth that price for a new one. I tried a refurbished print head before (likely one from China). It was actually OK. But I think I am just lucky probably.
Good stable magenta dye ink is the hardest to find. Very few in the 3rd party is comparable to Canon magenta ink. I did a similar fading test (sticking the photos on the window facing my neighbor's house) a few years ago. After about 30 days of exposing to sunlight fading of magenta is most...
Keep using it until when the printer sends a message asking you to press and hold a button on the printer. After you do that the ink level status for that cartridge will be turned off. You will need to reset the chip on the cartridge or use a new OEM cartridge for the ink level status to be...
I am not too surprised by the poor fade resistance of the Image Specialists dye based ink. There were similar reports on the forum before. It looks that OCP is not any better either. I am glad that I get to print on Epson R2880 these days. Much higher image quality from Pigment based photo inks.
I see. I still have my R300 and a R280 (or 380 I don't remember) that were problematic always. The R300's waste ink tank became full within 2 years after owning it new but with a print count no more than 500 (my estimate).
The waste ink tank (not really a tank but a huge spongy pad to hold up waste ink) is quite large in Canon printers. I have not had any of mine getting full. A few of my printers are from 2006 or 2007 era. I do not do cleaning cycles unless it is absolutely necessary. People who keep doing...
I have done it the other way around, refilling HP ink cartridges with Canon inks, with great success. HP and Canon printers are based on a same print head technology. The inks are similar and moist likely interchangeable. Just do it with some attention to the condition of the print. Do nozzle...
I guess I did not figure out the trick. I can imagine some people might have tried to drill like I did and still do not like it. It's a personal choice. Either way should work just fine. Thanks for sharing your experience.
