    Which ink?

Good decision. Please share your experience of using the ink when you get it.

    need to buy new printer

Canon is cheaper than Epson in operating cost with refilling or not. Epson gives you archival quality prints. Canon always print faster. It is my choice for printing text documents. HP has the advantage that if the print head is clogged or dead just get new cartridges and it will be as good as...

Large PGI-525 black ink keeps fading out after a few pages...

Don't believe a single word you said. Sorry. Read Jimbo123's thread.

re: "How many times do you reckon you have refilled your OEM carts ?

Jimbo, you have kept an excellent record of your refilling numbers. It is a solid success example of refilling with compatible inks. $1 per refill is what I achieve too. Way to go, Jimbo123. Gosh, someone said 9 out of 10 cloggings were caused by Hobbicolors ink. Totally nonsense. I am going...

Workforce 1100 - complete waste of money

I had an Epson multifunction that uses Durabrite inks. I let it sit for about 6 months and it clogged up solid. After losing more than half of the ink in cleaning cycles and still got nowhere I gave up. Epson printers need to be used at least once every few days or it is heading landfill. Don't...

CLI-221 and the CLI-226 both use the same type of ink ?

Interesting thought. I once participated in a seminar hosted by a start up specialty inkjet company which was developing an oil based inkjet ink for printing LCD color masks. It failed a few years later. But I learned a lot from the CEO one of the speakers of the seminar about inkjet...

Large PGI-525 black ink keeps fading out after a few pages...

This is an academic problem of Canon PGI-5, PGI-220 and PGI-520 when they are repeatedly refilled. Yes, the problems should be in the cartridge that is accumulating dried up pigments. There have been many discussions about this before. The first thing to do is to purge the PGI cartridge. The Hat...

Image Specialists 10 year old formulation

Stratman, your post is confusing. There are two conflicting statements. Can you be more clearer? 1. Image Specialists has not reformulated their CLI-8 inkset. 2. each unique cartridge model inkset (CLI-8/221/225) will have a different formulation because the printer technology has changed...

re: "How many times do you reckon you have refilled your OEM carts ?

Jimbo123, it should take less than 10 ml maybe 7 - 8 ml to refill a CLI-8. It will take 13 ml only when the CLI-8 is bone dry. When you refill the next time it doesn't take more than 10 ml to refill. Great numbers , Jimbo.

    qimage

You don't need Qimage just for the reason you gave. The printer's driver should allow you to print multiple sizes. Qimage is a photo printing software. Photoshop is primarily a photo editing software. It also does photo printing too. You don't need either one for the reasons you gave. If you use...

ip4000, logic board or print head problem?

The nozzle check is showing that you have clogged print head. The light cyan and light magenta are missing. The yellow is totally missing. If you have used your printer like this for heavy printing the clog will be very tough to clear. It is probably very difficult to find a new print head for...

    Which Canon Printer to get?

For CD printing you don't need a printer with 6 colors of ink in 6 ink cartridges. Any Canon printer with a PGI-220 or PGI-225 and 4 CLI-221 or CLI-226 will be more than enough for printing CD/DVD. Canon printers are normally faster. They all have higher nozzle counts than Epson printers. That...

Photo quality difference between non-Claria and Claria printers.

Last time I washed a print on a Kirkland glossy photo paper it was at least 5 years ago and it was printed on a Canon printer. Some small amount of ink washed off under a faucet. But the same ink printed on a Canon Photo Paper Plus was completely intact from washing. Tried the 3rd party ink I...

Photo quality difference between non-Claria and Claria printers.

Are you sure the ink did not wash off from the Kirkland paper? It is the paper that makes the print waterproof, not the ink. The Kirkland photo paper is not 100% waterproof. Some ink will wash off but not a whole lot. The fact is all paper including Canon will wash off. But Canon paper will wash...

3880 - Inkjetfly vs InkRepublic vs Inkjetmall

Pharmacist, I saw prints from R2000, R3000, R3880 and Pro7990 at the store when I was there last weekend. The colors all looked almost identical but the ones from R3000 and 3880 were a little more saturated. I did not look close at the prints from Pro7990. I think it was also a little more...

3880 - Inkjetfly vs InkRepublic vs Inkjetmall

Pharmacist, I was in a store last weekend and I was told that R3000 and R3880 (as well as R2880) use vivid magenta inks. R3800 on the other hand uses regular magenta inks. All other inks used by all these printers are the same k3 inks. I was told that the vivid magenta inks are stronger. That's...
