Other than a one, brief foray into Epson, I've been using Canon printers since the late 1990's. Some ancient ones, an S620? Anyway, moved on to the iPXXXX Pixma series, from way low model numbers (iP2000-ish?) to the iP4500. I also have a Canon PRO-100 when I want large or better photo prints...
I think there is way too much worrying about this. I'm willing to learn something if I'm wrong, but it seems to me that with the print heads in park position, there won't be any evaporation of inks.
The only issue I've had with leaving my Pro 100 unused for months is weird. It's been so...
Windex isn't cheap???? Even without going the generic route, such as grocery store brand, a quart or so in a spray bottle of the real deal is less than $4 here. That should clean a few dozen print heads, no? If it was $10 equivalent in the UK, that's a few shillings per head, no?
turbguy's...
If I leave my Pro 100 off, as I often don't print on it for months, and plugged in, it restarts with an error code. I don't remember how many flashes, or what it signifies, or how I get it back on track.
Now, I unplug it after I turn it off.
Weird, eh?
Not to reignite the Perpetual Epson-Canon Pissing Contest, but in the many years on this forum, I often see issues with Epson that I don't with Canon. Maybe I'm just biased and am blind to Canon issues?
Over the 25? years I've been in computers and printers and later scanners, I now don't even...
I had a printer die in shipment that I sold. Since I didn't get near what I reasonably expected per sold on eBay, I didn't insure it. Especially since the cheapest transportation from SW Florida to northern California was already high.
The buyer really worked with me to try to get it going...
Yes, I did speak for myself. Of course. As I said, my perspective.
I'm sure you know that re-writable discs sometimes suffer from failures like fungus in between the layers.
I have thousands of photographs from the late 19th century to the present. www.vphotoestate.com I trust them to...
What's a CD?
Seriously, have you ever seen a media type come and go so fast? Including DVD's, for the most part, and especially writable for archiving. I have drawers of blank discs of both types, two sizes, and hundreds of sleeves. I now burn a disc maybe twice a year. My first DVD...
You are on the right track about one thing, coating to prevent image loss. My lengthy experiments in bright Florida sun a few years ago showed that it is atmospheric gases that fade Canon Chromalife prints many times over that of UV. And that was "clean" air, just blown in from the Gulf of...
Sir, you could not be more wrong it you tried.
First, you are outright ignoring many very experienced printer's comments in not only this thread, but many others.
Canon used to have some pages up on the new back then Chromalife100+ inks that very clearly claimed different fading resistance...
This got me to wondering, do Canon print heads wear out? I'm presuming:
1. Always having quality ink in the system. Never run dry.
2. No electrical failures. Obviously, this can't be controlled for. The luck of the draw. Or, Irish, eh? :)
Yes, I have been a huge Irfanview fan for almost 20 years. Does most of what I need w/o lots of unwanted, often confusing options in other programs, and fast. Too bad it doesn't have a decent Thumbnails function with a library. Moving into my new home a couple of years ago, I printed many...
UPDATE: Since Precision Color wasn't shipping for a week or more (second time I ordered at a bad time!) I bought a set of compatible cartridges from Amazon for $24. At first I was impressed, by that I mean they were branded on the cartridge and came with a warranty card and a website...
Thanks for that great observation, Hat. It so happens that I ordered more magenta's from PC after I refilled the carts. Did I make a mistake? Sure looks like it.
It's also time to change out the original yellow to PC's empty cart. Fun, fun.......
I've owned several iP-4300's and am on an iP4500 for several years now. Been refilling BCI carts for many years, back to the S800? and even earlier printers.
As these are the last of the BCI carts, I just yesterday decided to look and buy another to keep as a backup. With some luck and good...
As I said, nozzle test just fine. Also as said, didn't have time until last night. Not only is it OK, but a little test print shows that the magenta hue is MUCH worse!
Strangerer and strangerer. No streaking, nothing leaking.
What's with that attitude Joe? So unlike here.
I have explained what I observed and that I am not able to run another one imminently.
Not sure why my observation of no problem with the yellow nozzles would even be called into question.
