Print head died and it's likely cheaper to replace the printer. Thing is I need regular access to my printer so being without one while a new print head makes it's way from China not a very viable option.

What would a good replacement be...?? I am partial to cannons. And I think I'd go with a continuous supply system which I guess would avoid this issue in the...
Crapage, Got in there with my headlamp and a mirror. All pins straight and clean. For good measure I took some contact cleaner and a q-tip and gently cleaned them... no change.
I have a usb one. The orange one. Don't think it has a battery... at least I don't see one, but I'll unscrew it to be sure...

Edit: Ok, I checked... no battery.
Actually tried a third now, the original one that came with the printer... did the chip reset, installed it, same error msg "printer cannot recognize cart' etc.

Been rolling along great until today... and now for some reason majenta reset fails... tried two different carts.
Others filled up fine this afternoon.
Thoughts...???
Just popping in to say hello. Joined a couple years ago when I got my (then) new mx870, been refilling it successfully ever since with info I gleaned from here... using the inks from "Precision Color", as recommended. And I can honestly say, never a moment of trouble...
Considered that, but decided that getting carts designed to be refilled would be easier. The guy selling them on ebay has 100% positive feedback.
Do these arc chips not work as advertised..?
