I was thinking more of removing the printhead and doing a thorough cleaning with "Pharmacist Solution". This could also be a good way to clean out the printhead if you're not going to use it for awhile. I was even thinking of getting a used set of carts and having them dedicated for cleaning...
To keep a printer healthy, should you have some kind of maintenance schedule for cleaning the printhead? Or is it best to do nozzle checks periodically and if something is detected, then do some cleaning cycles.
I read a post on this topic and how some people wait too long for their cartridge to dry, as others fill them rather quickly. I guess that post threw me, along with a pretty inadequate scale, but after the "mega flush" to make sure nothing was in the sponge AND the 2.5 day dry period was the...
Don't run any water through it initially, but give it a good soaking of Windex with ammonia. Fill the sponge up and let it sit there for about an hour. You might have to do this a couple of times to get it in that pristine condition. @jtoolman has a very good tutorial on this... check it out on...
My wife is a catherdal artist and when I showed her how good her work was on printed media, she was sold! She's "all in" for me getting all the printing equipment I want. I'm working on getting a Pro-1 next... :)
My wife and I made a day trip to Milwaukee, so this was the proverbial icing on...
Really, with deals like this to be found, how can someone that actually purchased the printer, and paid full retail price, expect to sell it. On the same craigslist, I saw another ad selling their used one for $300, but needs ink.
I saw a great deal on a brand new, in the box, Canon Pro-100 on craigslist so I went to pick it up. The person that I bought it from told me he had a couple of friends that wanted to sell theirs also, and if I could wait, they would bring theirs over. In the end, I got 3 of them for $50 each...
Success! I finally have my cart flushed and looking good. :thumbsup
It's been about 2.5 days air drying and after the mega flushing, I can actually smell the scent of victory! How sweet it is.
Thanks for all the help guys.
@Samuel, approximately how long have you owned this printer and how many images have you printed? I'm trying to get an idea of when this type of error will eventually come about.
I got my cart flush adapter from OctoInkJet and decided to "really" flush out the cart, thinking that there might be something keeping the sponge from absorbing ink. I must have done this about 20 times with a 60ml syringe. The wicking phase is complete and now I'm going to let this sit for a...
I filled up the cli-8 cart I got from the Precision Colors kit and it worked great! It filled with no problems at all. That's why I can't understand when I flush this cart, things go wrong. I'm chalking this up to being a newbie and maybe I'm rushing the process. I'm going to inject a little...
I checked my wicking paper towel and it was dry, so I'm ready to try refilling once again. I primed the pump, sorta speak, by putting some ink in the outlet port and I noticed that it wouldn't fill up the lower sponge. It did absorb the ink, however, it was very light in color and not the dense...
