Yes, you will need to purge the carts before you install the "Pharmacist's Solution". When you're done running the "Pharmacist Solution" through the print head, don't print anything else, then put the plastic protection piece back on the print head and store in a sealed baggy. You can keep the...
I guess it boils down to how many images the average user of these printers prints in the printers life time? There is a sticky titled "Printer refill numbers - 983 refills" and can you image a new sticky titled "I went to my BIG BOX store and bought enough OEM ink to refill my printer 983...
I went to the AliExpress website to look at the single use chips for the canon pro 1 and I saw this (below). Notice # 2 in the Features section, it says "Auto Reset Chips, permanent chip, do not need chip resetter at all". I'm really dreaming now, but I do believe that this is a typo!
I just asked the same question, but concerning a Canon Pro-1. Have a look at http://www.printerknowledge.com/threads/how-to-store-a-canon-pro-1.11079/ and it will give you the general idea.

I'm not overly concerned about the fading issue, since I don't sell my images, if they fade, I'll just reprint them. BUT, I do believe in a good file prep, inks, substrate and profiles are definitely mandatory. This is a learning process to find out what works for me and I'm loving it.
@The Hat, where do you get the information concerning each cleaning cycle (60 hour, 120 hour, etc.) and how many ml of ink they use?
I can see that you really have to weigh the pros and cons of doing a "System Cleaning" then. It might be better in the long run to print the weekly image OR this...
I ran across another great deal on a Canon Pro 1 that I'm thinking of purchasing, this time the previous owner used up all the ink and they decided it was too expensive to buy more. I don't want to run several Pro 1's at the same time, so how would one go about storing the Canon Pro 1?
