Good one strat!
Yes, it does get hot here in Arizona, at least it does in the desert. My garage is like an oven in the summer. But what most people don't understand is that AZ has high country as well with forests and mountains, even snow in the winter and cool in the summer.
My other spare is...
There's a used one in my area on craigslist for $75 right now. Hmm, have to think about that as I'm sending one of my spares with my daughter who's off to university.
It was a used one, if you can call 29 total pages printed used. It's been in my garage for just over 2-years with, Shh - don't...
My advice, if it works and you're happy, don't change. I'm sure the others are great inks but just for more experience? Not sure it's worth it. That's my opinion.
You don't say what type of printer you have which would help, but it sounds like you have an ink flow problem in your CIS's magenta cartridge. It could be an air gap problem or a blockage of the air vent preventing the ink from flowing.

If I didn't already have 2 waiting in the wings, I'd snap it up.

Define "older cart" and "refilled many times". I just passed two years refilling the same set of carts and have no intention of stopping any time soon.
Turning off usage information is just so the printer can estimate the ink levels and tell you when it thinks the cartridge needs replacing. I don't know why trying to turn it off didn't work, unless you did, as you say, already did that before.
On page 56, what does the estimated ink levels...
Have you followed any of the troubleshooting steps in the User Guide?

I used to reset the cart after I refilled but then I saw Redbrickman's post about resetting before so that's what I do now.
It doesn't really matter either way, but to minimize the chance of making a mess, do it before.
