The only things not changed are the paper edge detector & carriage position sensor & paper feed sensor.
Would any of these have the ability to block ink ejection?
Have about 4 old printer chassis going back to 1390 / carts; - ink tank L1800 is much better - but only when its working!
Thanks ISF. I have changed 4 print heads, 6 main boards, 2 power boards, & 3 main board to printhead cables, 3 computers (Acer, iMac, MacBookPro) 3 software downloads.
Still performing 'apparently' properly - but absolutely no ink printed on Nozzle Check, or general printing.
It is as if the...
what is the status, the computer can communicate with the printer, and there was no error condition so far.
That's correct, does everything 'apparently' correctly - just no ink printed.
I don't think at this time that the problem is UPS related. If you get problems - e.g. problems with the...
Thanks ISF, have now used WICreset - by shuffling printheads and main boards have got to a zero fatal error.
Goes through the motions of printing, but absolutely no ink printed.
A couple of weeks ago I was having trouble with my computer - it would not restart, so I installed a new UPS to...
Thanks, ISF!
Yes, it does everything as it normally should - only thing different is that not one jet is firing! Yes, have looked through the service manual for L1800 and 1390 - cannot see this fault -
Have swapped printheads (now on a new one) also main boards - no difference-
I am using a...
My L1800 has developed anew problem; does everything correctly, cleans heads propery, but will not print anything - test print or any other file. No ink whatsoever. Have changed heads and main boards but all the same.
Does the printhead number need to be entered into the rom?
Thanks ISF. The tank > damper tube is fine, tho I noticed it is much harder than the tube on an new, unused L1800 I have. But it doesn't seem to be in danger of cracking. The bad tube is some kind of a black rubber, moulded by the look of it. It is much smaller than the supply tube so can't use...
I have found that the two tubes below the the printhead 'park chamber?' cannot stand up to eco solvent (and presumably solvent) ink. They have a short life - less than 1 year before they split at the end or crack. See pics.
This has caused me endless trouble / losses. Coupled with the fact that...
I have an Epson L1800 with Chinese flatbed base. I have found it is sensitive to the lube on the carriage rod - after a while it starts to drag and the image becomes fuzzy - does anyone know the correct lube? I am using spray lube with MoS2(sprayed onto a tissue, then applied)
I have about 20...
"Is it safe to use refill cartridges or will it damage my printer? Do i need a "chip resetter"? Octopus office seems to refill them very cheap"
Refills & after market CISS will drive you mad. Listen to ISF.
A couple of possible solutions to the stain; a temp solution would be to print onto a longer paper, legal or foolscap? - then cut the bottom off.
What might be easier is to run the paper over the 90°edge of a table, etc to give it a 'downward' curve. Of course, if you are printing double sided...
I am using ecosolvent ink from Korea, for printing onto rigid ABS. But I only found the problem because I am running the 'racing version' L1800 - chassis only. So I noticed when cleaning that only a little ink was passing through the tubes.
Now main problem is start position - I need +/- 1...
Thanks Bert, but there is no way for me to know that. Bought the printer from China, (flatbed, Epson 1390 top; now L1800) had lots of probs, manuf gone out of biz I believe. As I said, Epson wont service as it is modded, so its a matter of poke here & there & see what happens. Sometimes you win...
Well I have found the problem. Not printheads, not mainboards - it is in the tube leading from the cavity below the printhead when the printhead parks (there are 2 tubes - one goes to the pump, the other goes to a valve of some kind. Looks like this valve was not closing (or tube split) - so...
Thanks for all your suggestions - but nothing is improving it. It is not air as I bleed the head with cleaner before putting it together.
I am thinking it must be electrical as nothing I do will give a good pattern. Used up two printheads and 1 mainboard last 48 hours -
Have checked FFCs -...
I have an Epson L1800, fitted to a Chinese flatbed; printing ecosolvent ink from Korea (South), onto plastic items. I just fitted a new printhead - sourced from 3rd party in China - but looks like an original
I have cleaned the printhead a number of times, also powerflushed, but not getting any...

On a Mac Os, if a high q square is shown, you click 'finish'; if there are still lines, you select 'realignment' and the next process is to print again, 'hopefully!!" corrected!? Hope I am wrong and shown a better way!
