I agree entirely with Roy's recommendation but for one detail. In my experience the Outback image is great for evaluating the "real world" capability of the printer. However, in my experience it's not easy to spot small colour differences when you have two prints and have to switch your gaze...
A couple of examples of some playing around with very strong back-lighting. Not that much artistic merit but I do like the overall effect and the white background saves a bit of ink!
My first "real" job after grad/post-grad studies was with NCR (National Cash Registers) in 1971. My job was to analyse and optimise the print head to achieve the maximum number of readable copies on NCR paper. If memory serves me right we managed eight without causing the print head to melt...
As a result of a re-filling error I was forced to purge the Vivid Light Magenta line on my Pro3880 to get back to normal. I thought that some observations on the experience might be of some interest, or even help, to other 3800/3880 users.
Purging with QTR
The most obvious way to purge the...
Just picked up on this thread and I'm flattered that anyone wants to hang my photo on their wall. Feel free, and if anyone wants a larger file just ask.
Here's one for Pharmacist whose home city of Ghent provided us with great hospitality when we were there during the festival last summer. A great city - visit Ghent!

You can edit the ink separation image in PS if you need bigger patches. You do need to be careful when you edit to retain the No Color Management, but other than that it's just like any other file. The patches are really sized for the i1Pro, but people on this forum who use the Munki for...
Yes. Take a look at Keith Cooper's write-up on using the Colormunki on his Northlight Images site for B&W profiling using QTR. Doesn't cover the generation of QTR curves but gives a good idea of the capability.

The ink separation is the critical part of the process, starting with the black to determine the maximum ink load for the paper. I use cropped versions of the ink separation images so that I only need to print the three blacks - saves a lot of paper!
There are a few tutorials around that cover...
If you're using OEM inks there should be some stock curves that will work for you, but I must admit that I rely heavily on my i1Pro when I have to generate a new curve. Setting ink limits is also so much easier if you have a spectro.
Yes, I've been using it for ten years probably. Not just as a print application but the tools are very useful in analysing/optimising printing parameters.
Unfortunately there is no way to flush individual lines. The best you can do is to download QuadToneRIP which gives you control of each ink channel. By defining a "curve" in QTR you can force the printer to use only the LLK ink. You can then print a few A4 pages (cheap plain paper) which will...
If you want a borderless print the image size must be at least as big as the paper size. I suspect that when you check "Zoom to fill" the image will be re-sized to fit the normal printable area of the paper - that is it will leave a 3mm border. Borderless printing will retain this 3mm border. I...
I've been producing profiles for CDs for many years, but with an i1Pro rather than a Colormunki. My 284-patch target is printed on three disks in a spiral format. I mount the disk on a small turntable under the i1Pro and rotate it by hand. It took a bit of development but has worked well for me...
I think you must be looking in the wrong place for your prints. There's lots of competition in this market and you should be able to get a very good quality A3, on fine art paper for a price of £8 or less, with discounts for multiple prints. Of course, doing your own printing has its attractions...
I suggest you try posting your request on the DPR Printers and Printing forum https://www.dpreview.com/forums/1003. I think the author drops in there from time to time.
