Yeah - I saw that.
I know Jose R. AKA JToolman is involved with this project, and am assuming when he has the time, or more information we will have a youtube video on the subject.
One thing that surprised me was the cost of the research. Probably not so surprising considering the rigors of...
Hi John,
Always happy to give my opinion - Caveat - It is worth exactly what you pay for it - ZERO. But you can weigh and balance it against other opinions.
It is somewhat hard to give general advice because everybody producing creative printed images has different aspirations, workflows and...
Hopefully advice from this site may rectify the defect. Seeing that the nozzle check shows around 1,900 printed sheets unlikely it is a month old retail purchase, so very little chance of a warranty solution.
If you do not have any recourse against the seller it could be an expensive lesson.

Thanks for the info - very useful and I will start to explore it.
Getting it working will be my winter project instead of going outside at -25 degrees and taking photographs. Too quick we get old, and too slow we get smart.

You have convinced me. :)
I am somewhat satisfied with my Colormunki and have always hankered after upgrading the i1Pro2, but quite frankly the expense if a bit too much for my strictly serious amateur needs. Plus I have just concluded a six week dispute with Xrite and do not feel inclined to...
The Hats response makes perfect sense.
I have a Pro100 and go away for 4-6 weeks twice a year and basically follow his recomendations. In my 4 years of use it has only once given a minor problem with a nozzle check upon return, and that quickly resolved with a nozzle clean.
Having said that...
It makes perfect sense. That possibility was covered in my final paragraph.
Planning for future events involves preserving choices and options.
Unless of course one can foretell the future.

One reason to hold off selling the included OEM ink is if the Printer requires Canon service while under warranty. Then it is best to fit the OEM carts before returning or sending to the service centre.
A very small risk of manufacturing defects I know, so you may feel OK ignoring it with...
I am out of town, so do not have access to my 3880, BUT....
I usually execute the Auto nozzle check from the printer LCD menu.
It produces a very clearly visible nozzle check image for all colours, and executes a clean of any clogged nozzles.
I only seem to have minor clog in CYAN if I...
Hi Fred,
Uusally I use any scrap paper, frequently plain 20lb bond. All I am looking for is an even solid bright rectangle of dense colour without any sign of cloudiness or variance in density. Sometimes I use a few offcuts of RC or glossy paper but not essential.
I maybe spooking you with all...
Hi Fred,
See you are from East Tennessee. Hope you were not too close to the recent fires. I spent a few days in Gatlingburg and Pigeon Forge few years back when visiting the Smoky Mountains. I still recall the courtesy and friendliness of the local people.
I have no special insight to...
My thoughts on the subject.
I am convinced that the genius of The Hat's reply is in the final sentence of his message, "...99% of head failures are due to poorly maintained cartridges."
We become so obsessed with the all important nozzle check, so that once we have a a good clean nozzle check...
Yep, they include the original chips. Read the specs on the website. My recollection is no guarantee and no returns.
I have purchased probably a couple of complete sets over the years and local friends have also purchased several sets with no problems.

I have purchased the used carts from Octoinkjet. He ships quickly and efficiently to North America.
The carts are used, empty and appear visually to be somewhat dry. In my opinion it is advisable to start with a purge and clean using pharmacists solution. Takes a little time but at least you...
It seems a LOVE or HATE preference for most.
It has many hidden gems in its features and menus. If you have to do a lot of diverse printing it is well worth the time to spend 15 minutes per day reviewing the online youtube videos.
I don't even use the editing features, but with a raw converter...
I can heartily endorse Qimage.
Indispensable if you do a lot of printing.
Somewhat quirky interface that drives the Windows purist into tirades of wrath because it does not follow Microsoft's rules for the unfolding of the Windows universe.
If you actually use it for serious printing it...
Hi Martin,
OK - I used your method ONE and got a perfectly neutral B&W print using same paper, settings, and profile. I set quality to level 2 as the RR recommendation. Normally I use 1, but don't think is is relevant to this problem.
FULL DISCLOSURE - I print using Qimage, but that should not...
Could be interesting, especially as SCOTUS currently has only 8 justices. Does that mean they need 5/3 to get a majority decision? What happens if a 4/4 split decision?
Will refilling become like the old world moonshiners, refilling at night in the hills to hide from the lawman? :(
