    Is my MX925 dead?

I've spent some days cleaning the print head till no more ink came out, unfortunately with no success. The yellow is unchanged, and the cyan and magenta still have some streaks. So now I will investigate a Maxify as a replacement as The Hat suggested.

    Is my MX925 dead?

You're absolutely right. ip4500, ip4600, MG5250, MX925 - none have lasted that long for me. They also seem to have got progressively less reliable, and certainly more difficult to fill. If I can't fix my printer, my next post would have been to ask about alternative Canon printers. Thanks, I...

    Is my MX925 dead?

I don't like it as much as the ip4600 I eventually scrapped, but enough to try more cleaning. Thanks for the response. I used window cleaner to soak the ip4600 printhead. Do you think washing soap is just as good?

    Is my MX925 dead?

A few years ago this thread gave me a lot of help which allowed me to resurrect my ip4600. Now my MX925 no longer prints yellow. I've tried most of what was suggested in the above thread: run several cleaning cycles, a deep cleaning cycle, checked the yellow appears to be purging OK, an initial...

    Is my MG5250 dead?

Yes, good point, except I've filled these cartridges many times without problems. And I could understand one leaking, but not three. It's actually my wife's printer. She saw the cartridges full status this morning as she was going through menus on the printer. I suppose she might have got it...

    Is my MG5250 dead?

Yes, I don't understand it and if it might happen again that's another reason I'm reluctant to buy another print head. Good to know the logic board is OK though.

    Is my MG5250 dead?

I refilled the cartridges. No change, as I expected. The printer now powers on, but says incorrect print head. Further confirmation the print head and/or the logic board has been damaged. I've removed the print head and ensured all the contacts are clean. It's not worth buying a new print head...

    Is my MG5250 dead?

I've just had error B200 on my MG5250. From what I've read, there's not much I can do about this - overheated print head and probably replace logic board also. However, there are some confusing features. When the printer was used this morning, the printer status showed all cartridges full. Now...

Information on refilling Epson and HP cartridges

I'm planning to buy a Canon multifunction MG5250 for about 75 in the UK. I can't find any colour duplex laser printer for anything near this price, and even if I were not refilling the inkjet, I'm not convinced running costs would be less for the laser printer, probably more.

Information on refilling Epson and HP cartridges

In that case I'll consider laser printers. I did look at them before I started refilling my iP4600, but the capital costs and running costs for a colour laser seemed a good deal higher than buying an inkjet and refilling. Was I wrong, or have colour laser printers become much more competitive...

Information on refilling Epson and HP cartridges

I have to replace a Canon iP4600 which has died. I've been refilling it (German method) for about 18 months. In 18 months I have never printed a photo. I really just want a printer that prints text and colour at a reasonable speed and quality with hardware duplex, and that can be refilled...

New weapon of Canon: new carts to replace CLI-221/521 and PGI-220/520

The German method. But when I started refilling, I drilled a whole in the wrong end of the Magenta cartridge, and have covered it up with tape. However, there was a problem with Magenta nozzles being clogged up before I started refilling, so I'm not sure about the cartridge and would like to...

New weapon of Canon: new carts to replace CLI-221/521 and PGI-220/520

I cannot fix my iP4600 and am considering buying an iP3600 using my existing CLI-521 cartridges and resetter for refilling. But my Magenta and Yellow Canon original cartridges are leaking slightly, and I really need to replace them. If I buy new Canon CLI-521 cartridges (European) are they now...

    iP4600 error message

I don't have the service manual, only the iP4600 series on screen manual. Gigigogu posted a reference to the similar IP4500 service manual. If you know where I can get the iP4600 service manual, please can you post the link?

All the cartridges I'm refilling are original Canon ones.

    iP4600 error message

Thanks for this. I guess this describes my problem. But the suggested solutions are not too appealing, involving replacing expensive components without any guarantee they will solve the problem. I could try the last two suggestions if I can work out how to dismantle the printer. Not sure it's...

    iP4600 error message

Unfortunately the printer status dialog only says what the lights already say - there has been a printer error.

    iP4600 error message

I have been refilling my iP4600 successfully for 18 months now. However, the printer has just developed a fault. When I switch on, the power light and the alarm light flash alternately ten times until there is a pause with the power light on, then the sequence repeats. The iP4600 manual says 10...
