Bed Levelling - Quick method using a cheap DTI gauge

When I first got my printer, I used to spend a lot of time levelling. Now it's really quick - with A4 paper. Also on my printer when you adjust one corner it sometimes changes the level of the others. So it may not be as simple as going to all 4 corners in turn as the video shows. The gauge is...

What would make a 3D printer suddenly start clogging repeatedly? (CR-10)

Have you only used the one make of filament? If so why not try a different one. If it's still clogging it's likely not to be the filament. I use Real Filament and have never had any problems.

Maybe I'm being a bit stupid, but how will you be printing this? In three layers white, then black, then red? Or is it just a 2d sign:idunno

Have you a picture of it installed in your printer?

Better heat resistance? I soldered the connections to my heat bed when the connector broke. I then printed a PLA strain relief part so the heat bed cable doesn't pull on the solder connections. But I'm a bit concerned the PLA is very close to the heat bed. So I'm tempted to reprint in ABS to...

Only for the true 3D nerd

I have to admit, I had a raspberry pi I'd bought a few years ago and never used. That made it a no-brainer for me to put it on my printer.

I didn't realise acetone did that. I was using it to clean hairspray off the print bed, until I realised that isopropyl alcohol works OK too. I'm glad Mrs FryingSaucer doesn't read this forum with all the warnings about noxious chemicals, fire hazards, electrical hazards... I might find my 3D...

That looks good. It certainly would have made it easier to move the SD card to and from my motherboard. It's not that easy to access the SD card slot on mine. This was one of the reasons I didn't like using an SD card as the transfer mechanism. But I'm glad I didn't see your holder last week. I...

When you use Octoprint from a browser window on the PC you're just connecting to the Octopi server running on the pi. If your connection breaks, it doesn't stop the pi managing the printer. If you want to print a gcode file using Octoprint, you first Upload the file in the browser window, (the...

I'd read that different colours are better at different temperatures, but I've only used black and fluorescent green so far. I've not seen much difference. My problem is that what I print looks OK to me. I print calibration cubes and benchys, and they look reasonable. The dimensions are...

Only for the true 3D nerd

I added Raspberry Pi/Octoprint a few days ago. It's great:) I hadn't dared to print via USB from my main PC in case Windows Update rebooting or whatever stopped my print, and it was a real pain transferring prints on an SD card from my PC to my printer. With Octoprint on my PC, I now develop...

That was my reaction. On the other hand I've watched a lot of Thomas Sandlerer's videos and they're pretty good, so when he says you can improve the quality of your prints I listen. But then, I don't know whether the target temperatures I'm using are the best ones anyway, so what's the point of...

OK, I just didn't look hard enough. There's a lot here I could make. I particularly like the customizable hinged box.

Is it time to re-think 3D printers ?...

Well, I've used SCAD to design the odd part where there was nothing existing that was the size/shape I needed (for example a housing around the PSU to provide a switched plug and fuse). But many of the parts I've printed have been designed by others to improve the stability and accuracy of the...

It doesn’t Rain but it Pours !...

Exactly what happened. The connector is a JST . This is rated at 10A. The heat bed can draw up to 11A, more if the supply voltage is more than the nominal 12V. So this part is already on the limit. But these JST connectors use sprung contacts. If there's any vibration as the heat bed moves, you...

Well, perhaps it is worth paying more with Amazon. That's exactly why I use them so much. Great to know it's worked so well for you - a few months 24/7 use of a printer, then an option to work another one into the ground for free.:D On the other hand if you're buying a 3D printer kit like I...

3D Printers on Amazon Black Friday Sale

That link to Amazon has an Anet A8 selling for £179.77, supposedly reduced from £277.77. I got mine from Gearbest for £115. OK, if anything goes wrong, you're better with Amazon than Gearbest, but it's still very expensive for this model. I use Amazon all the time, but I'm not sure I'd buy a 3D...

It doesn’t Rain but it Pours !...

The end pin on the heat bed power connector is corroded or burnt out as in the attached. I don't know why. Maybe the pin was loose and was sparking as the bed moved back and forwards. My Anet A8 was as cheap as they come, so it's not surprising if the connector is also. I can get a replacement...

Did you get your heat bed working? Mine is not heating now:barnieIt has no excuse - I've been fairly gentle with it. I've not been working it day and night like you have. I've not investigated yet.
