Storage Clips for Cli-8 anf BGI-5bk

I have found that cutting one inch (25mm) wide sections from a bicycle tire is a perfect low cost storage "clip" for the Canon ink tanks. It seals both the outlet port as well as the top vent. I used an old tube marked 24 1.9 which has a diameter approximetly one inch.

    Brother Printer MFC-255CW Ink Cartridge

The ink tanks from RMM's link (post #6 ) will not work in the Brother MFC-255CW printer that uses the LC61 ink tanks, but here is a link for large capacity tanks that will; http://cgi.ebay.com/4pk-Ink-Brother-MFC-290C-250C-490CW-790CW-Lc61-Lc65-/270698070012?pt=BI_Toner&hash=item3f06dcbffc ...

    Brother Printer MFC-255CW Ink Cartridge

There are many non OEM ink tanks listed on eBay. Just look up "Brother MFC 255CW" or "Brother LC61 ink" and you will find many sellers of the LC61 ink tanks, and refill inks for these tanks. I also have this printer and bought pre filled transparent ink tanks with refill bottles of ink for a...

Newbie observations = multiple printers already..

I have five hooked up and running, mostly Canon. iP6000 iP6600 i900D i560 Brother MFC-255CW I find this ink-jet technology fascinating. I have picked up all of my printers at yard sales or thrift shops, and thanks to all the good advice I get from following this forum, they all are in good...

storage of an used canon printhead

I use my shop vacuum to do the same thing the printer purge unit does sucks fluid through the print head, but without loading up the waste ink pads. I hold the outlet (nozzle) side of the print head at the inlet hose of the vacuum, which creates a low pressure area. I can hold the hose end...

Why aren't Brother printers more popular?

The Brother ink tanks sold from the vendor listed in my original post (see link) are very easy to refill because they are clear and have a fill hole and cap and you don't even need a syringe. If you go to the link, along the left side of the opening window scroll down to Brother LC61 and click...

Why aren't Brother printers more popular?

I just picked up a very nice one year old Brother MFC-255CW all-in-one wireless printer at a thrift store for $4.00 because it was inoperable. It looked so nice I couldn't pass it up. When I got it home I found a small piece of paper had jamed the printhead. When it was removed the printer...

    Purge (priming) Pump quick test

Thanks for the reply. I know the print head channels and nozzles are all open and clean as a whistle, and am almost certain there is some electrical problem. It's good to know the i series printers will work with only the BCI-3e pigment ink tank installed. Since I do black only printing about...

    Purge (priming) Pump quick test

There is a lot of discussion on this forum regarding the testing of the purge pump when the printer fails to print some colors, especially after an ink tank has been replaced. Placing Windex on the parking pad and seeing if the purge cycle sucks it away is a good way to see if the pump itself is...

cartridge leaking using the durchstich method

The first time I refilled using the German method, and plastic squeeze bottles, I couldn't beleive how much ink was being absorbed by the sponge once the ink chamber was full. Then I realized that I had released the squeeze preasure on the bottle, with the needle still in the ink chamber, and...

    Is a MP750 worth buying for $60?

If the pigment black (BCI-3eBK) is the problem you may still get excellent print quality if you tell the printer you are using photo paper. The pigment black ink is not used if the printer thinks it is printing on photo paper. This has helped me in the past. Tom

Finally back... with lots to discuss (iP6000D)

I suggest, for those who have not yet seen this, a review of the post "A new way to clean a Canon print head", by Tom Hock dated 02/04/'09 might be of interest. http://www.nifty-stuff.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=3777 I have been using this method with excellent results. It doesn't subject the...

A new way to clean a Canon print head

I'm pleased to see how much interest there is in this posting, and the good suggestions that are being posted. These may be very beneficial to others looking for a way to bring new life to a clogged print head. I wonder how many good printers are discarded because of an easily cleared print head...

A new way to clean a Canon print head

I have improved, and simplified, my head cleaning procedure. Now I don't have to tie up the sink or laundry tub, and the print head electronic circuits are never wet. Hopefully the attached picture (if I get it loaded) show the details. I used a small plastic food storage container and punched...

A new way to clean a Canon print head

A little more info: I pick up used Canon printers that use the #3 or #6 ink tanks at Goodwill stores and rummage sales for $3 to $5 dollars My wife and I enjoy these Treasure Hunts. Almost all of these printers have full or nearly full original Canon ink tanks. The one I bought last week had...

A new way to clean a Canon print head

I think I may have discovered a novel way to unplug a stubborn Canon print-head. In the past I have spent hours trying to clear a stubborn clog, especially in the pigment black nozzles, using the various methods discussed on this site. Recently I took a set of used empty ink tanks (although...
