Trigger,
I have had the same questions as you about the open "extra" hole for the German method.Does it upset the "balance" of the cartridge regarding air flow...So I have stuck with filling through the reservoir and sealing it with a screw.Recently I decided to try the German method and I...
I have had bad luck with any type of flexible plugs.I went to tapered #8 stainless steel screws and they do well(especially the type that have a taper under the head-rather than being flat like a pan head). The taper seats into the hole and seals it.I pull the plastic ball out of the top of the...
Consider refilling using the "German" method-just do a search here- and empty OEM(Canon) cartridges with a good ink like Hobbicolors. The OEM "empties" are likely better than ANY aftermarket cartridges for refills.
Romakpect,
Do a search for "purge" or "purging" and you will get a lot of info on this. It's a bit complicated as you'll get a lot of different answers. Here is a good starter: http://www.nifty-stuff.com/canon-BCI-6-cartridges.php
I already have.Got (3) ip4200 at CCity for $39 each a year ago!I sold the ink, made a good profit on that and thus got the printers for free.Keep your eyes open as these Canons sometimes go on sale long after you think they are gone.
Aussieinker,
If I'm not mistaken, propylene glycol is sold as RV antifreeze(it's pink). It is not poisonous to drink like normal antifreeze. But,the RV antifreeze is not 100% PG,there is water in the mixture.I think the post about using it in the cartridge was at 3%.The typical auto-store/Walmart...
Martop,
Leaks are most often due to overfilling.....or too much air getting into the cartridge during use(like a poorly sealed fill hole in the reservoir-one more good reason for using the German method).I really see no advantage to making the hole higher up the wall(German Method).Keep it as...

Printheads for MP780.
martop,
First,I really doubt if the hole in the "divider" amounts to anything at all.The German method is great.I started out with filling through the original fill hole in the reservoir and have now gone all German-method.I did it mainly to be able to purge. The plugs, for me,are not...
I'll ad to the above post.Do a search on Ebay and email any questions to Dave at Hobbicolors. He is extremely helpful.Their inks are called "UW8" for color(equals CLI-8) and "PMT-BK" for pigment black(equals PGI-5).
I agree fully with #2,5,and 6.The problem I have seen is that you hit this forum like a sledgehammer with 20+ posts(some to very knowledgeable members) and gave some poor suggestions, made some false statements(possibly from ignorance of the facts) and had a bit of an attitude.
You obviously...
This is why I said "malarkey".As you see above in YOUR quote, you said "you have to call Canon for one" and that is patently untrue As is the price being more than the printer(which sold for $300).
You might consider that this forum is a very civil, polite place with members that help one...
Before I started following instructions from someone who says "I don't own this printer or have the manual",I'd do a search on this forum. It is well documented here.
