Just a couple of questions about your batch
How more accurate is this profile versus 480/600 patches profiles ? and in what ? colors or b/w prints or in fading effects ?
Why use 335 grey patches when usually 128 are enough for B/W prints ?
957 patches WOW, my last charts got 860 patches on...
now that i have a profile for the Ferrania Optijet Matte Paper i would like to try it, so i copied the icc profile in the /Library/ColorSync/Profiles directory but i can't find it (like paper) in Preview neither in Adobe Color Print Utility.
Does i have to use Lightroom/Photoshop to use...
Hi all,
i began to experiment with Argyllcms to profile my paper, for my Epson XP 15000 printer with CMYK + Red + Grey (6 inks in all)
My device is an i1pro rev. d no uv-cut
My targen charts are generated in this way
******** MAC OS SCRIPT ****
#!/bin/bash
TIME=`date "+%Y%m%d-%H%M"`...
too much ink is possible, but i don't know how to tell the printer to use less ink
wrong side, i don't think so, if i put the sheet under a light, the printed side is brillant and shine while the other side is not so brillant and muted white
thanks for the link i will read it later
Hi again i'm comparing the ICC profile for Ferrania Matte Paper with the ICC profile fo Epson Matte Paper, i know the paper quality is different, but i wanted to see which has more gamut.
I didn't find any software to compare the icc profiles so i used...
I learnt about A4R from Argylcms, it has in the paper size choices.
stratman: sorry i didn't see that argylcms mailing list has a search engine, i will look into it.
thanks again
After the long wait i got the first profile for the first paper
Ferrania Optijet Matte paper 120gsm
i got these results at the end
Profile check complete, peak err = 5.199439, avg err = 0.464654, RMS = 0.606981
Are these values good ?
ok don't worry to much about it, the question was, why if i print an A4 tiff file it is bigger than A4 sheet ?
If i print Borderless (to have the full size of the A4) the first row is thin versus all the others, i suspect that the Argyllcms notes on the side of the chart is enlarging the...
stratman, just to clarify, no i didn't join the mailing list, because i know how those work, usually you post and someone answer, but what i mean is if i want to search in the mail archive (maybe someone had my same troubles) it usually can't be done because a search engine is not included, but...
Hi stratman, i'm sorry to see that i disturb you, i was supposing this was a printer forum and is the only where i found information about argyllcms and colormunky combination.
I thought that writing here someone could answer to my questions and so was, so i'm sorry again if i disturb you...
Does someone know the unit of the Total lamp usage indicate from argyllcms software ?
I hope it is showed in seconds, my total lamp usage is 10753,821289
If it is in seconds i have a new device 10753/60=179 minutes / 60 about 3h of use
I tried to search for it but no information found, the...
finally i succeded to scan a patterns chart, but it was with only 324 patches but enlarged at 1.3 ratio
I had to understand how slow i would be to make the scan in the right way else "strip read failed".
Without a perfect ruler i will not be able to scan reduced patches easily.
I will do more...
ok i solved i was keeping the device on the white plate when measuring, now it passed all the tests
now i will have to test the charts sheet with argyllcms to sse if i can read the pattern
i installed the xrite diagnostic v4.1.2, it sees my device (it says i1pro), iit makes the tests but then tells faiiled, also if pass all the tests (they were all succeded), i upgraded the version to v4.2.1 and later but my i1pro rev. D is not supported.
How can i verify the device is working ...
for sure :)
the courier brought the device at home 5 minutes ago, i will check it with the diagnostics when i will get at home later, if i use the X-rite diagnostic do i have to install some drivers or will it be found automatically ?
i'm sorry i didn't want to star a war of flames, it was not my intention i really tried to understand how to profile paper and there aren't much videos about this.
I follow Jtoolman and i take (like always) all like it is, i like to try myself and discover how things works, but repeat i don't...
that i mean is, may i use the device to scan parallel to the rows instead of perpendicular with the row (like showed in your image, the device scan perpendicular to the row of patches) ?
but if i print with smaller patches i can have problems ? Anyway i don't have the board so i have to build...
But do you think i have to read in this way for sure, or i can rotate the EFI ES 1000 to read in the other way like the ColorMunky ?
Anyway i think the original board is designed for the Xrite patch scheme and dimensions so i don't know if it will work with ArgyllCms patch system and dimensions...
Now some general questions about scanning,
how i scan the rows ? i mean i see several video but all about colormunky, the i1pro usually comes with a ruler to link the spectophotometer and it then scan horizontally, now i don;t have the ruler, i can build one, but how i move the...
