Cool trick! How to do nozzle checks as a scheduled task

I had the same problem. However, you don't actually need to copy the SPL file, all you need to do is tell the system what to do with it. In my case my printer is shared as PRO100 so the SPL file gets labelled - by the computer - as PRO100.SPL and thus the second line of the batch file reads...

Cool trick! How to do nozzle checks as a scheduled task

@crenedecotret I've recently updated my pc but I'm still using my faithful Pro-100. It's not used often these days so I run a nozzle check every so often and have a shortcut to my own version of your autonozzle.bat and these instructions were essential in my being able to adapt it for the new...

Keep your printer turned on 24/7 or power it down after every use?

It's just occurred to me - are we talking about the same thing? I've never turned the printer off or unplugged it but, under maintenance settings, I have it set to turn itself off after 30 minutes of inactivity.

Keep your printer turned on 24/7 or power it down after every use?

I bought my Pro-100 in July 1914, it's never been turned off since that day, it's still on its first printhead and, as far as I know, it never does anything between print jobs.

Canon printers. How many of us are still refilling?

Like others here I have less need to print these days than of old but my trusty Pro-100 sits about 3 feet away from me as I type and when I need to print I just run a print head check and off I go. Been re-filling from day one and have two new print heads for the day when one might be needed...

Inkjet colour printer for home-run business (advice pls)

Thanks Stratman. How nice that you remember me. I know I've not posted for a while but I still monitor this site every week or so to see what's happening and still print a lot at home. However, since I realised that the many experts on this site know what they are talking about and followed...

Inkjet colour printer for home-run business (advice pls)

Hi Roberto, I'm a bit late to reply but, fwiw, I ran a small business from home for 20 years up until a couple of years ago and used a basic HP Laserjet 1200 for B&W printing for reports etc and a Canon inkjet for all colour related stuff and I still have this setup now for my personal use. The...

    Finally had a low-ink warning for PRO-100

Hi SkedAddled Just a word of caution: I'm surprised your carts were leaking as much as you suggest. I find it rare indeed to have my refilled cartridges dripping noticeably and, if they are, I'd suspect the refill plug was not fully sealing the hole. May I suggest you hold a refilled...

Code to run nozzle check from batch file

@Photographic Memory I accept all that you say and will stay with win7 64 for as long as is practical on my main pc.

Code to run nozzle check from batch file

Well it would be lovely to think that I won't have to upgrade from win 7 but the realist within me tells me that Microsoft will eventually stop patching win 7 (I think they've said that happens in 2020)and, after that, it will become impractical to continue unless someone can guarantee my...

Code to run nozzle check from batch file

@William Seaward Many thanks, works like a charm. I love that the instructions and code in that thread are 8 years old now but they needed no amendation. I shall be mightily upset when I eventually have to run windows10. I'm still on win 7 64 bit and it just works.

Code to run nozzle check from batch file

Hi All I recall some time ago copying a batch file script from this site to run a printer nozzle check so I could easily run one from a desktop shortcut - rather than going through the rigmarole of doing this via the Control Panel. However, I've managed to lose the shortcut and cannot locate...

    Pro-100 update

Thanks The Hat for your kind words but it just suddenly occurred to me that thanks were probably overdue. Almost without exception those who regularly visit here will be keen re-fillers and/or newcomers and I remember my early visits here, initially investigating how to save a fortune but also...

    Pro-100 update

Hi All I use a Pro-100, bought new in July 2014 and, since purchase, I have top-filled the cartridges. I re-fill all 8 cartridges as soon as I get a 'low ink' warning on any cartridge, I never allow a cartridge to run dry and, since adopting this methodology (at about the time I bought this...

Canon Pro-100 and Red River UltaPro Satin - B&W

Martin I seem to remember from a post some time ago that the option for "Black and White Photo Print" in the printer dialog box is only to be selected if your photo is currently a colour photo which you want to print in black and white. If you have already converted your photo to black and...

Thanks for the link and the explanation, that helps make sense of what's going on.

    PRO-100 head alignment query

Are you saying that yellow is used to create different shades of grey? I like the 'fleck of dust which has now gone' theory and, if that's so, taking the head out now will be too late to reveal anything (since the line's now gone) but I may well have a look if it recurs.

    PRO-100 head alignment query

Your comments are noted especially since, although the printer's just over two years old, it's not been heavily used. I will definitely continue to monitor output and will run an alignment check once every week or so to see if it recurs. Still interested in the lack of a yellow alignment check...

    PRO-100 head alignment query

This morning I ran a print head alignment and, on page 2, there are thin white horizontal lines through three of the blue tests (see attached photos). There is no annotation on the printouts but comparison with the 'ink levels' dialog box suggests it was the photo cyan. My first instinct was...
