Those problem seem to affect Hobbicolors in 2006-2008 I started refilling with them in late 2008 with their UW8 inks which could be their 2nd generation of inks.
It seemed to me that in a moment I had some kind of problem with pigment ink not colors with blocking, I will try to remember. When...
Thanks to all for replying, maybe purge unit is playing tricks or the printhead is blocked and then limited to only print black, I pin masked 2 QY6-0073 on 2 MP620, and they only print the PGBK pattern no hints of ink on any other color. Printhead is indeed QY6-0073 nice observation Lukasz this...
That fast fading is common to IS inks, I contacted one IS ink seller and he was elusive about the fading problem. I will stay away from IS ink from now on. I switched to Hobbicolors and the problem that I was getting were eliminated. Big hoorray to Hobbicolors.
You have to look for the parking pad it is used to suck out the ink of your cartridge it makes a good seal under the printhead, so flip over your printer and it should fall anywhere, and reinstall. Or just dismantle your printer and reinstall it, that is the reason of the lines when printing...
All I can add to this thread is Hobbicolors clogged my purge system, and the new ink is far away from the UW-8 colors, some rich tones are missing, and as a previous poster stated it was a day and night difference.
Now I only use OCP for my pigment ink and zero problems, never had a problem...
Well, it turns out that the printer is guilty for not printing pigment black, and it killed the head. When the printer started to fail to print the pigment black I tested the printhead in another printer same results. I said at that time 2 printers cant have the same problem.
Today I used the...
Update: The printer turned off when I wanted to print a 4x6 photo, now it wont accept the head. I unplugg the power supply cable for a while, then the printer turns on half a second, and then it shuts down.
Without the printhead it stays on and no problems I guess. I have a sealed refurb head...
Thanks for your advice. Once I reused my pads on an old IP4500 I washed them with a hose with mild water pressure, then I used the clothes washer spin cycle to dry them, and they worked well. At that time, and having only used Hobbicolors ink I could see the pads were not evenly saturated and...
I totally understand that there are 2 purge systems. I was narrating the only experience I had with no pigment printing with Hobbicolors, and that time it was the printhead, not it is not. I just finished checking the purge pad, it was well washed no gummy ink on it, I removed it and 12cc of...
Now that I remember I had the same situation but after a blast of hot water with a syringe directly to the nozzles and the problem was solved with a MP620. Now with Hobbicolors since a few months it happened to me that this ink is clogging my pigment black nozzles both in a IP4500 and a IP4200...
Well I poured some water in the purge pads and it was drained, I also tried with another printer, and the same problem I never had this problem with this ink I will have to dismantle the printer to see what happens.
I am having the same problem with Hobbicolors Pigment, no hints of black at all, I swapped the head to another printer and the same problem, time to think it is the printhead, I suspect no blockage but electrical problem.
What you need to do is to try to put a little pressure on the purge pads maybe with your fingers (if you manage to move the head) or with a long object. All I did was to press the purge pads 3 times and the error was gone.
Excellent explanation couldnt have explained it better, but other possibility is the pins where the chip rests are dirty, you should be able to clean them with a Q-tip and isopropyl alcohol, another thing is to check the batteries in the resetter as PeterBj says.
I think I had several chips...
Printhead alignment will only show dark-light grey and blue patterns when you do it automatically, manually you can see some grey shades and blue again, but no other colors.
What ink are you using with your printer? Maybe the ink is the problem make sure to check for dark and magenta stripes...
I totally agree with you, this ink is not as dark as other pigment black, it might not clog the printhead, but I found out that I was having my yellow cart splashed with black after using OCP pigment, and my purge unit look dirtier after I used OCP.
I know unclogging a printhead is time consuming and and annoying way to waste your time, I am pretty sure your printhead has an electrical problem and you should buy a new one.
When the nozzle check shows some irregular patterns in the stripes is a sign of a defective head. The last time I...
