Regarding the odd nozzle check @Lukasz confirmed me that this nozzle check is caused by a masking of the connector on the printhead. Thanks to all for your help.
Now that I remember I had the same problem with pigment black not printing well when I used Hobbicolors pigment black. Remedy was disposing of the cartridge and buying a new OEM no more problems.
When I saw that problem I bought some empty PGI-5 carts preventing any problem and avoiding to pay...
This is something I learned the hard way with 2 Epson R280 dead by trying to "unclog" them. It is common on Epson this why many users report clogs in ther printers. An overnight waiting time is Ok, in the morning just try a deep clean, with some luck it could produce a perfect nozzle check.
@PeterBJ that message of yours is a complete unveiling of mytseries around ink monitoring. I like your explanations, it will be very useful to all members.
These words have to be carved in stone.
It is a very good idea to refill the cartridge when you get the low ink warning, as stated by The...
Regarding the nozzle check I uploaded, I am curious because all of the other colors make possible the little bars surrounding the letters of the colors. These bars often have a color cast on them depending on the inks you have refilled in your carts. With Canon they could be a little gray, with...
But what I can tell you is that when the reservoir in these Canon cartridges becomes void of ink the low ink warning will always show without exception, because there is a prism built into all of these OEM cartridges to make it so..
I am totally aware of this, and I won´t refut this. What I...
What @Lukasz and I agree with is that once reseted the ink level detection is not as accurate as when the cartridge was new.
It is something more commonly seen at least for me in the CLI-221 cartridge series, maybe the ink level monitor show there is ink in the cartridge, then you remove the...
@The Hat I know what you mean about paper, the bad paper I mentioned here which is Royal Brites is my guinea pig for testing ink. When it is used with Epson L800 ink I had no problem, neither with Hobbicolors, and Canon CLI 221 genuine ink.
I have no other ink to test it, but the problem is...
So you say that if the contacts marked are sealed I will end up getting the same nozzle check pattern as the one I uploaded_? I masked mine according to I guess one of your posts and only PGBK grid pattern shows in the nozzle check print.
I forgot to mention the cartridges can be capped again with electrical tape just around the middle of the cartridge and that´s it, they don´t need to be hermetically sealed.
I had a MP230 using a tricolor cart and a black pigment. When I saw problem like banding or something the only remedy to that was boiling the cartridge. I just added water to less than the half of the cartridge.
I left the sponges on and with ink on them, after a while boiling (adding wheight...
My tests with IS ink were left uncovered, but they only looked good for 3 days a few more days by using Kirkland paper, that is a shame, now using the same paper that showed ultra fast changes is left uncovered and the pictures look like the day I printed them. It´s been a week, and no signs of...
Regarding the printhead stamp, this printer is not in my hands right now (someone is selling it to me), and sent me pictures of the carts and the nozzle check you saw, my plan is to purchase only the printhead and use it in a compatible printer.
If it is "new" or "refurbished" printhead from e-bay (or any other seller), be prepared to the worst - it may be kind of fraud (it can be done by blocking certain contacts on printhead connector).

I think martin0reg said to purchase his pritheads off Ebay from a Hong Kong seller named...
