Canon Pro 10 vs Epson ET8550

thanks for your reply, the main idea was to be able to do profiles my self (actually I bought the spyderprint because there were no profiles available for the canon g550 which I don’t have anymore) sine the pro 10 has profiles made by big paper companies doing profiles myself makes much less...

Canon Pro 10 vs Epson ET8550

Hi guys, thanks a lot for your comments, with the pro 10 is much easier to see that the Spyderprint does not do good profiles, for the ET8550 they were better than the Embedded profiles but definitely not with the pro 10. (I did a profile for the paper canon glossy II, it's not good on the test...

    Reviving a Canon pro 10

I just saw today somewhere that the canon pro 300 had the same inks as the canon pro 1000 except there is only 9+1 inks (Lucia pro). So I guess filing the pro 10 with pfi1100 and profiling you basically get a pro 300 ^^

Canon Pro 10 vs Epson ET8550

I started with mate paper because I really like the rendition on fine art paper and the canon pro premium mate has very good contrast and saturation and it’s quite cheap to do some testing plus the fact it is in the driver. I also printed on canon glossy II the croma optimiser work very well...

Canon Pro 10 vs Epson ET8550

Hi All, Since I recently revived my very cheaply acquired canon pro 10, I will like to start a comparison of the 2 printers. In this thread, I will only talk about VISUAL image quality. I will not talk about Inks (pigment vs dye) nor any printer specifications. Just to put things clear, I am...

    Reviving a Canon pro 10

Hi Guys just for an update, I am received OEM inks. I installed them am run a cleaning cycle to flush old ink. As you can see now, the colors look much better on the Nozzle check and the issue that I had with the Magenta (the 0.5mm missing at the beginning of the stride) is now gone. Looks...

    Reviving a Canon pro 10

Ok Perfect I will look into that, the rest of the cartridges you run them with Octoink? If so, do you see differences with OEM after profiling?

    Reviving a Canon pro 10

My Girlfriend will be happy, I will have to keep my two printers ^^ I can not compare it to something else however I do agree that I did struggle a lot to have a usable profile. Now I have the technique how to make them and it works perfectly (again I don't have a i1 pro to compare). My custom...

    Reviving a Canon pro 10

For now, I have compared pictures visually of which ones I like most on matte paper (Octoink does not work on glossy apparently) with custom profiles made with a spyder print (patch by patch click). As far I only tried canon pro mate paper PM101. I find the picture more contrasty, less flat on...

    Reviving a Canon pro 10

Just edit my post, I don't want to be responsible for any neck pain :) Yes hopefully OEM inks will make this printer awesome. I know I might get myself killed, but currently, in terms of image quality, the Epson ET8550 with custom profiles is better (for my taste) than the pro 10 with Octoinks...

You know what the problem is with SpyderPrint?

sorry to wake up this thread, @Robert Graham, how do you scan with the spyder print? For my part, I do patch by patch with the 255 patches. I tried the 729 option but I didn't see any noticeable difference. I also use a think non-OBA paper under the target sheet. Glossy paper is super tricky...

    Reviving a Canon pro 10

Thanks all for the support, I think the printer is working quite nicely on matte paper (see picture attached). I ordered canon cartridges for 104 euros let see how good is the printer with OEM ink. I live in Germany it's only 2C degrees today so it's fine ^^ Yea crazy when I saw that! Even my...

    Some tests with the ET-8550

(which software are you using to see those profiles?)

    Reviving a Canon pro 10

Should I try to invert the carts? On glossy paper the quality of the print is yet very bad compared to my ET8550, on mate paper after letting it rest for 24h is ok. I also tried the fine art setting which does improve a bit the contrast. I have some banding in the middle of the color grading for...

    Reviving a Canon pro 10

Thanks for your comment I have read a lot of topics where you commented on this forum. I will clean the pads, let see if it does something. I don't know yet if I will be refilling or using OEM cartridges, depending on whether I keep my ET8550. @PeterBJ Possibly, at least on my side the...

    Reviving a Canon pro 10

Hi All, I just acquired a canon pro 10 for nothing. However, the printer was not used for 5 years so I could not be tested. The ink cartridges dried, I weighed them and they were not empty but dried. So I bought a set of Octoink cartridges for the pro 10 to test if the printer was alive. I put...
