Keep your printer turned on 24/7 or power it down after every use?

Your Pro1000 and most modern Canon printers of medium-high level have an internal battery that stores basic data ( actual clock time and others). Leaving it off doesn't resets the time and the printer knows when the last cleaning was performed. Naturally, if it was long time ago, when you sent a...

Reconmended A3+ printer (with a preference for Canon)

@Paul Edmunds, that new printer is for you or for somebody else? In the first case, maybe a pigment printer like the Canon Pro-300 would be a good complement to your Pro-100. In the second case, there isn't much choice nowadays for A3+ printers in 'Canonland' : either the dye based Pro-200 or...

Keep your printer turned on 24/7 or power it down after every use?

I’m quite sure that Canon printers do not perform purge/cleaning cycles by themselves. It wouldn’t make any sense, Imagine the scenario: After refilling/replacing the cartridges you go on trip for several weeks leaving the printer ON. If the machine performed cleanings automatically every time a...

Having to feed paper manually, sheet-by-sheet on Canon Inkjet MG6450

Well, what do you know ?. My brother brought me yesterday his MG5750, because 90% of times it didn't feed the paper and then I remembered this thread. I tried, with some skepticism, the 'sponge fix' pointed by dublin123, and it worked ! :)

Canon printers. How many of us are still refilling?

No, unfortunately for Pro-9000 owners, it's a different model.

Keep your printer turned on 24/7 or power it down after every use?

I don't believe for a moment that leaving a Canon printer always on saves any ink at all. My Maxify stays most of the time totally disconnected from the mains power. Instead, my Pro10 stays off, but connected by cable to the power outlet. The Maxify performs less cleanings than the Pro10 or any...

    Pro 10 back working !..

Definitively you‘ve had very bad luck with this Pro-10. giving error after error. As far as I can tell, this printer is usually very reliable, and I’m not speaking only for myself. Of course I understand that you wouldn’t get another Pro-10 even if it were a terrific bargain. Have you thought...

    Pro 10 back working !..

IF it's the timing strip, you might be able to fix it patching it with the left tip of a spare strip. The end with the slit that engages on the hook is blank so it won't matter if it's from a different printer. See below the left end of my spare timing strips. The one on top is from a Pro-9000...

    Pro 10 back working !..

Even if the strips for the Pro10 and Pro-9500 are exactly the same length, which I doubt very much, in all likelihood the coding pattern is different. I suppose that your Pro-10 would have gone bonkers with a Pro-9500 timing strip, :D

Another comparison pigment Ink Test.. !

Nevertheless it would be interesting if you printed a couple of sheets on HP paper, so we could see the differences of the same pigment inks on good quality paper vs. 'not that good' paper. Yes, handling big rolls is messy and with some papers almost impossible to flatten the sheet...

    Pro 10 back working !..

I have several timing strips from deceased Canon printers, including one for a Pro-9000, but I'm quite sure that the Pro-10 uses a different model. A quick search online found no timing strips for modern Canon Pro printers, only for the Pro-9000 and 9500.

    Maxify is the Pitts..

It might be the cartridge and not the ink. Maxify carts, even OEM, are pretty "temperamental". In my case, no clogs with third part Inktec ink. Only when a cartridge is replaced sometimes I need to perform an extra cleaning cycle, because the magenta or the yellow bands in the nozzle tests are...

    Pro 10 back working !..

Good job ! :) I wonder if gluing a short length of an old timing slit over the damaged part would be a good idea for a reliable fix. Anyway, I've started to search spare Pro-10 timing strips out there ..:D

    Canon colour spaces: sRGB/Adobe RGB

Question 1 : I believe you're mixing the concepts of color spaces and printer profiles, The driver properties work with printer profiles. Color spaces are directly managed by Photoshop in the 'adjust color', 'asign profile' and 'convert profile' tabs of the Edit menu. 'Standard' in the Canon...

Canon printers. How many of us are still refilling?

I got into 3D printing thanks to this forum and it seems to have on me the same effects that on Nifty and The Hat. I don't print photos for me anymore. Only by 'special' order' of my close relatives and that isn't often. My Pro10 sits on a rack, idle 99.999% of the time, but I try to keep it in...

Pixma MG 5550 have a problem with matte paper ?

I suspect that the poor results using matte paper settings are because the printer uses dye black and not pigment black. Dye black on glossy paper performs as expected, but on matte paper gives dull images, lacking in contrast. I haven’t a service manual for the MG-5550, but in the manual of...

Unable to save a print setting for portrait

As you suppose, that hack isn't boldly advertised by Qimage, so probably Canon knows nothing about it. I don't recall how it came to my attention Possibly in one of Jose Rodriguez livestreams ?. Also, somebody here explained how it worked ( @palombian ? ). QImage doesn't say anything either...
