In spite of having gray inks, the Pro-100/200 printers use also a blend of other colors to simulate different gradient of grays on the paper. If one the colors is missing ( for instance magenta ) your grayscale prints will appear greenish in some areas. That won’t happen printing pure black text...
Usually, when a whole channel comes blank in the nozzle test and all the others are fine it means that an electronic component controlling the output of this channel has failed. Depending on the design of the printhead, sometimes only 25% or 50% of the nozzles are disabled, but the outcome it's...
Why didn't they try Flex fluorescent filament instead of boring steel ?
I picture lots of people bouncing merrily on the bridge in the middle of the night ( until it collapsed and everybody took a bath..)
Me bad too. I didn't think about the MP series. I should have guessed when nippyink said that it needed a software tool to reset the waste ink counter. Old girls like the i560 could be reset just using the front buttons.
Anyway, PeterBJ is right.. Only a new printhead (QY6-0073 ) would fix the...
I assume that nippyink refers to a Canon i560, because there’s no such model as the Canon Pixma 560.
Error B200 is usually related to printhead failure. I don’t think that changing the cartridges would solve the problem, but it’s worth trying. Sometimes this error goes away simply switching the...
PRO9500mk2, PRO9000mk2... these are spring chickens compared to a IP4000. :p
Seriously, I wonder if the first generation of Pixmas will still work with full functionality on Win11 ( or Win10), specially on a new clean installation of the O.S.
I suppose there's always a workaround, but I bet...
IMHO those ratings are total rubbish. I can't comment on the Epson/HP models, that I know nothing about, but just seeing that two MG Canon models are better considered than a Maxify MB5120 says it all.. This is a bad joke, right ?..
As long as Canon doesn't discontinues the whole MB/IB Maxify series, new genuine printheads will be easily available at least for a couple of years. On the other part, you're right.. better safe than sorry. In fact, I've been considering to get one or two printheads, because the yellow nozzles...
Tough question to recommend an affordable printer. I only know about Canon and not much on current models of the TS/TR series. Years ago, the first generations of Pixmas ( IP4000 to IP4500 ) were sturdy and reliable machines, lasting forever, although they had an Achilles heel; the printhead...
Bad luck...:(
I never tried to clean the ink absorbers on a working Canon printer. because chances of messing something inside are very high, unless you're quite experienced with these matters and have a very good guide for performing this task. A couple of times I resetted the inkpads...
You need to disable temporarily your antivirus in order to let the service tool to run. and reenable it again when you close the service tool. Alternatively, many antivirus programs let the user to define exceptions for a file that has been detected as a virus. The program informs you that a...
I guess that the wisest thing (and what I intend to do) is to keep the current drivers, as long as they work fine, disregarding future drivers, as most people here do with firmware upgrades. Every now and then I got a message on the screen of my Maxify telling me that new firmware is available...
Bed leveling depends a lot on the type of bed. I expect that it’s far easier to manufacture a perfectly flat glass sheet than one made of glass fiber or a thick aluminum plate. Glass fiber beds, as used Prusas, and static aluminum beds, used by many core XY machines, always need to perform a...
I guess it depends a lot on the type of filament and the size/shape of the parts to print. PLA needs strong cooling but other filaments need less or even no cooling at all. One thing is for sure, printing at the top speed allowed by your machine is never a good idea, if you want good looking...
IMHO the only reasonable option for multicolor prints is a machine with several toolheads, like the Prusa XL. Sadly, the new Prusa XY core machine seems to suffer from a lack of quality control and poor design in some parts. Maybe they'll get it right eventually but nowadays it's too expensive...
You should elaborate a bit more.
What kind of inks are you using .. Canon original or third party ?
Nozzle checks come totally blank or there’re traces of some colors ?
In the later case, did you see improvements, albeit minor, after each head cleaning ?
BTW I hope you didn’t perform several...
I still suspect that the problem resides on the software tool that you downloaded from Canon. It seems hard to believe that they would allow the users to get for free a software that resets the waste inkpad counters and performs other operations normally restricted to their technicians. Believe...
