I'm obviously not the welcome wagon, so I'll suggest you start as follows.

I like the microwave idea. It's a good way to apply a precise amount of heat. (Depends on microwave.)
One problem, though, as @PeterBJ mentioned is that you need to heat the ink sufficiently to kill off any of the likely contaminants. Identifying all of the likely contaminants probably isn't...
@ibanezfrelon ,
How old is your ink?

It sounds like there might have issues involving microbial contamination eventually overwhelming the biocide being used in the...
@arkpr ,
It's important that the purge unit be functional, since it is responsible for priming the printhead whenever the printhead or a cartridge is replaced. Your apparent printhead problem may go away when you get the purge working properly. (Or the lack of proper priming could ruin your...
@Harry Briels ,
I did eventually manage to expand the driver package that I downloaded. It's around 40MB in its original compressed form and expanded into a 60 MB .pkg file. I can't tell for sure without being able to execute the installer, but it does appear to contain the LFP remote panel...
@Harry Briels ,
I worked for 40 years doing software for a variety of computer related hardware manufacturers, so I know only too well how and why things can go wrong, For your purpose, it's best to understand that the people developing and supporting the software generally do not have the...
Hi @Harry Briels ,
I haven't done anything with OSX in over 10 years, so the only thing that remains of my experience with their install tools is vague feelings of anger and frustration. You might try checking the installation log. Did you find the download on the download page for the 3800? Is...
Hi, @Smudger ,
I resorted to using a heavy duty steel shelving unit with the narrow side against a wall so that I have easy access and lots of clearance at the front and rear of my printers. The Pro-1 needs about 20 inches between shelves in order to fully open the top cover. The rear sheet...
Hi, @Harry Briels ,
My educated guess is that the LFP remote panel is separately installable software that needs to be properly installed to be recognized by the Epson utility. So I would suggest that you find the version of the LFP remote panel software corresponding to the installed version of...
If your printer is mixing colors, you probably have an internal leak inside your printhead. The internal ink tubes leading to your printhead are pressurized, which may have contributed to the failure. I can't tell you whether the printhead leak was caused by too much pressure in the ink tubes or...
I'm under the impression that the 3880 only supports pigment inks. I'm also under the impression that the firmware that directs the ink droplets is optimized for pigment inks. This implies to me that the 3880's color reproduction with dye inks may suffer relative to that with pigment inks. So I...
See this thread: http://www.printerknowledge.com/threads/help-service-error-1224-paper-feed-misalignement-epson-pro-3800.6060/
It may, however, be a 'simple' matter of a foreign object in the paper path holding the lever out of position. Take a flashlight and check the position of the paper...
@pkk
The PE sensor is used to detect paper present in the rear manual bypass. (I'm not sure that that info is useful, however.) Ensure that the media is inserted far enough so that the PE sensor sees it, and that there isn't anything blocking the paper path.
This might sound stupid, but are...
Check this thread: http://www.printerknowledge.com/threads/endless-error-message-ink-cartridge-combination-does-not-match.5919/
(If you do choose to reinstall your printer, you might want to save a copy of your current settings in case they're lost.)
Did you follow the transportation instructions in your user manual?
Did you move the computer with the drivers as well or is this a new software install?
Your printer supports 3 combinations of black ink cartridges; are you using dye or pigment inks, and which black cartridges are installed...
I have a few printers that have oem ciss, with long ink tubes running from the (relatively) large stationary cartridges to the printheads mounted on the carriage. On the one sitting in front of me, (an HP cp1700), there is a solid arm clamping the ink tube securely to the carriage assembly. This...
I'm sorry, but I'm somewhat skeptical about the above. (Read you've managed to set off my BS detector.) It reads too much like an Epson marketing person's explanation of why Canon printheads are evil. Could you please cite a reference? Again, sorry.
There are excellent reasons for not touching electrical contacts inside electronic equipment. This is NOT one of them. That supposedly delicate gold plating has to survive the wiping force of insertion and removal. If the plating were so flimsy that it were to come off with careful cleaning, it...
If all else fails, you might consider cleaning the electrical contacts on the printhead and the corresponding ones in the printer with something like isopropanol. Take care that you don't zap either with static electricity. (Ground yourself before touching a potentially sensitive part. Use the...
