I recently discovered a couple of things regarding random dropped nozzles in the nozzle check. The first was that cartridges may look identical from the outside, but the seal of the cartridge be very different.
cart #1
Poor seal:
cart #2
Good seal:
Cart #1 gave me terrible nozzle...
That's what I'm assuming for now. I'm not exactly ready to jump for those cartridges yet. Inkowl still has older style chips. I just have to make sure I don't update my firmware.
Larry
It's unclear to me whether one chip may be used over and over, or if the chip must be replaced everytime it registers empty. Can these carts be refilled with the same chip up to 150 times? Or do I need to replace the chips each time for $15.79 per set?

I've been using Conecolor ink for over a year now in my R3000. They have very good technical help, although you sometimes have to pester them. They're not the cheapest, but definitely much less than OEM.
As for quality, I'd say that for an amateur like myself they're more than good enough...
I was getting a lot of "printer errors" when printing multiple pages with a wireless connection. My router seemed to be dropping the connection in the middle of a print and it would get stuck. I haven't tried it with a USB connection yet. What I do notice is that it takes a long time to...
Welly,
It looks like you recovered the red, so things are looking up!
If you download the WIC reset utility, you can perform an ink charge. This will use a lot of ink, as if it were priming your printer for the first time. You may just have an air lock in your head.
Sometimes doing multiple...
I've found that printhead cleaning doesn't use nearly as much ink as people claim. I probably waste more ink in prints I toss out. I've got a 100 mL ink waste bottle attached to my Epson R3000. I had to empty once this year, and that was only because I had to do an ink charge which does use a...
Something else you may want to try, more expensive, more involved, but if you've got an impossible clog you can try this.
Purchase another set of cartridges, a bottle of inkjet cleaning fluid (I wouldn't use a home-made type here), fill the cartridges with the cleaner and install. Run the...
Take another look at the video. Dana drops the piezoflush onto the capping station pad, then blots it off. She repeats this as many times as it takes to get the pads clean. If the water or cleaner you're using just sits on top, you've got a TON of gunk so this may take awhile. Also, find the...
Have you ever cleaned the capping station and wiper?
Here is a link you find useful.

The fact that you can simply place a new cart and chase the Epson ink out with Cone ink tells me that mixing will do no harm to the printhead. However, given the issue of shadow detail, the prints would be inconsistent, and there may be unwanted chemical interactions if a mixture were to be...
OK, I guess I made an incorrect inference here. From the Cone website:
"Another benefit to having similar chemistry and performance is that it is not necessary to flush out Epson inks before installing ConeColor inks. The two ink formulations are compatible with each other."
I inferred that...
Wow. My R3000 carts are smaller, but now I want to see how much I can rescue from my OEM carts. Cone inks are mixable with OEM, so I can just add it to my bottles.
Could I ''bin" the Office depot ink cartridge recycling bins and get free ink?....

I remember trying to revive an R2880 I got for cheap, and to play with. (I didn't care if I wrecked it, I was playing to learn). I know that we are talking about dye-based vs pigment-based inks here, but I did learn that dried pigment ink is nearly impossible to dissolve out. I saw dried up...
I think I recognize this thread from another forum, but want to reply here. I am starting to come to believe that anything that applies pressure or suction to the internals of the head is a bad idea, which includes IJM's flushing syringe. I donated my R2880 head to a friend to play with and we...
I have another questions about my WF Pro 4530. I'm trying to decide whether I should go with a resetter so I can clean then reset the maintenance box, or just purchase new ones when needed.
This also lead to a new question:
If I get the resetter, presumably I can reset the original Epson...
Thanks,
It's looking like Inkowl is the best choice so far. I'm still probably going to get Cone ink because I know it's good. Sure, it's more than Inkowl, but less than Epson.
Larry
I just got an Epson WP-4530. I'm considering using Cone's version of durabrite because I trust their inks. However, they no longer sell cartridges for the Workforce printers. Inkowl supplies cartridges and ships them right from Canada for Canadian orders. Are their cartridges any good?
