The new printer calls for a 502. Does that make a difference?

I just bought the Epson ET-4850. I previously had the ET-4550 (7+years old) and I have a bunch - full bottles - of ink of 664 and 774. The associate at the store I purchased the printer from said that if I could get the ink in the well, it would work fine because basically the only difference...
